WASH Project Coordinator(2 Positions)

Reports To: WASH Program Manager

Job Summary

The Garissa and Tana River Emergency Response aims to address both the immediate and long-term water security and access issues in these regions.

The main responsibilities will include coordinating the rehabilitation of water pans in conjunction with a team of local WASH Construction Supervisors and Technicians, while assisting with data entry and reporting across all WASH program areas.



Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveying and assessments of existing water pans
  • Provide guidance for WASH Construction Supervisors and Technicians in the rehabilitation of water pans
  • Mobilize communities for Cash-for-Work water pan rehabilitation and manage the disbursement of cash for said activities
  • Ensure water activities comply with appropriate national and international standards
  • Train local WASH committees on the management, operation, and maintenance of water infrastructure
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on water quantity and quality data
  • In coordination with Community Health Workers and Hygiene Promoters, monitor household water information to include water consumption (liters/person/day) and household water quality
  • Conduct water quality assessments and disinfect sources as required
  • Write routine progress reports and keep WASH Program Manager informed
  • Assist with data entry and analysis of baseline and endline WASH surveys
  • Assist the WASH Program Manager in writing month-end reports
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation of WASH program activities
  • Manage all data collected for WASH program activities
  • Abide by and work in accordance with Samaritan’s Purse principles
  • With a generous and serving spirit assist co-workers to perform any tasks, duties, or responsibilities for the benefit of the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse
Education / Experience Preferred
  • University degree in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering
  • 2 to 3 years previous experience working on the rehabilitation of water pans
Skills Required
  • Experience in community mobilization.
  • A desire to work with and train local staff and community WASH committees
  • Be a team player with good communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Be fully conversant in the SPHERE standards
  • Be fluent in English and Kiswahili
