Maisha+ Focal Point & Regional Deputy
The ICRC Regional Delegation in Nairobi is seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to fill the above-mentioned position to be based in Nairobi.
The incumbent will coordinate all Work place Health and safety program activities for the Nairobi Regional Delegation in Kenya, Tanzania and Djibouti.
S/he will also provide support to ICRC Delegations and Sub-delegations in East and Southern Africa in their implementation of HIV program policy
The responsibilities:
As a Maisha+ responsible:
As a focal point for HIV Workplace program, s/he will be responsible for:
- Overseeing
the peer educators’ activities and fully participate in these activities;
- Briefing
of new national staff and expatriates about Maisha+ program and organise
refresher courses for the peer educators according to identified needs;
- Supervise
the uptake of VCT services at the workplace and during social events;
- Facilitate
in health talks and sensitisation sessions for Peer Educators, Family
members and general sensitisation sessions;
- Networking:
collaboration with local partners/enterprises and national Red
Cross/Crescent having similar workplace health and safety HIV program in
sensitisation / screening / social marketing;
- Organize
Maisha+ program events (ie annual family fun day, World AIDS day etc…);
- Draft
and follow up the annual workplace program budget;
- Coordinate
the publication of the Maisha+ newsletter including collecting articles,
photos and HIV/AIDS information;
- Responsible
for collection and production of Maisha+ promotional materials;
- Keep
in touch with HIV issues locally and internationally and advise the
management accordingly;
- Propose
and coordinate community outreaches/ activities;
- Production
of various internal and external reports including quarterly reports from
insurance and annual reports;
- Participate
in the bi-yearly HIV Health committee meeting.
- As
a Deputy for East and Southern African countries:
On visiting ICRC delegations abroad, s/he will be responsible
for:
- Evaluate
medical centres and hospital services with the Health Focal Point in order
to guarantee good access to healthcare for delegation employees and
expatriates;
- Evaluation
of the HIV program and main public health problems;
- Implementation
of the workplace policy;
- Support
/ Training of the Health Focal Point and Peer Educators;
- Identification
of the main stakeholders and organisations in the working place health and
safety HIV field
- Benchmarking
to private and public enterprise / organisation for research of best
practice and proper monitoring and evaluation of the program
- Maintain,
through the Health Focal Point, a good network of health partners, Health
ministry official, NGO or enterprises involved in Work place health and
safety / HIV programs;
- Regular
Monitoring and Evaluation reports according to formats decided with
Coordinator;
- Be
part of the organisation of annual Health Focal Point workshop.
The requirements:
- Diploma
in Nursing or Degree in Medicine;
- Minimum
of three years of professional experience in Clinical Management of STIs
and AIDS;
- Professional
experience in Peer Educator Training;
- Public
Health experience / master is an asset;
- Excellent
knowledge of English (oral and written). Knowledge of French is an
advantage;
- Excellent
computer skills (particularly Ms Excel, Ms Word).
