Finance Assistant Career in Nairobi Kenya – Australia Awards for Africa Programme (AAAP) – KES 75-90K

GRM International is a leading project development organisation with offices operating throughout the world.
We are currently recruiting a number of positions for the Australia Awards for Africa Program in our office located in Nairobi.
The Australia Awards for Africa Programme (AAAP) is a key component of the Australian Government’s development assistance to targeted countries in Africa.
This three year contract aims to provide 1000 scholarships per year across almost all of Africa, covering post-graduate courses, short courses and professional development through work attachments.
Reporting to: Finance & Contracts Coordinator and Team Leader– Australia Awards for Africa Programme (AAAP)
Based: Nairobi, Kenya
Duration: End Date 31 December 2013 with 2 year option to extend.

Function:
·         To support the Finance Department in effectively managing the AAAP accounting and reporting function and ensuring that the Finance function provides timely and efficient support to the programme.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Assist in the delivery of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
·         To assist the AAAP team in the financial function of;
1.    Invoicing
2.    Accruals
3.    Cash Management
4.    Financial systems support
5.    Data collation – namely timesheets and other supporting documentation
6.    Processing, checking and reviewing of payroll documentation
7.    Data entry
8.    Petty Cash
9.    Assistance in compliance reporting
10. Bank Reconciliations
11. General ledger / journal entries
·         Assistance in daily and weekly cash flow reports
·         Other duties from time to time as may be reasonably requested by the Finance & Contracts Coordinator and Team Leader.
Key Selection Criteria:
Required skills/experience (selection criteria):
·         Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting or related field.
·         Established experience in a Finance Assistants role
·         Experience in accounting or related discipline
·         High standard of written and verbal communication skills
·         Well developed and highly effective organisational skills
·         Strong accounting, business and administration skills
·         Ability to thrive under pressure and balance or prioritise several competing projects at the same time
·         Demonstrated people skills with a flexible and collaborative personal style
·         Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office – Excel and Word
·         Fluency in written and spoken English
·         Fluency in any/all Portuguese, French, Arabic languages would be highly desirable.
