Public Relations Officer Job Vacancy - Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA)

The Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA) is a member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). KGGA is registered by an Act of Parliament (CAP 220 of the laws of Kenya) and has been active in Kenya since 1920, making it one of the country’s oldest youth Associations.

KGGA operates through a value based program and has a national membership of over 155, 000 girls representing every race, ethnicity, culture, class and religion in Kenya. KGGA’s mission statement is “To provide opportunity for girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world”

KGGA is looking to fill the position of
 Public Relations Officer. KGGA is an “equal opportunity organization” that is committed to hiring highly qualified individuals regardless of gender, religion, race, creed or marital status.

Responsibilities:
  • Will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing of PR and communication strategies;
  • Coordinate and maintain good relations with various stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Build and maintain a good rapport with the media
  • Write and edit articles about KGGA for various media
  • Prepare and supervise the production of various publicity materials
  • Organize various events throughout the calendar year
  • Identify and maintain a strong fundraising network for the organization
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities
  • Responsible for the PR and Communication budget
  • Coordinate research, monitoring and evaluation initiatives
  • Create a crisis management manual
Experience & Skills
  • Graduate in PR/Communications; Business/Management (Marketing)
  • At least 3 years experience in similar position with proven track record of creating positive impact on business through PR and communication activities
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce compelling articles
  • Excellent communication and strong presentation skills - candidate must be discreet, confident and articulate
  • Ability to work unsupervised, multitask and work in a fast paced environment
  • Pro-active and able to show initiative
  • Creative and strategic thinker
  • Proficient in MS Word programmes; working knowledge of design and production using various media an advantage
  • Project Proposal writing knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge and interaction with the Girl Guide movement will be an added advantage
