Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, NOB

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above temporary appointment in the Nutrition Section of UNICEF Kenya Country Office.

The staff member will be based in the government.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Support design of a national nutrition M&E strategy and activities to be used by MoPHS and all nutrition partners in the country.

  2. Support design and/or review of M&E tools at national and sub-national level to be used by MoPHS and partners.
  3. Gather and analyze nutrition program and intervention data to provide information for influencing decisions aimed at ensuring better programming.
  4. Map nutrition programs coverage, partners and beneficiaries in the country. This includes the monthly updating of 'who-what-where' and attendant GIS mapping.
  5. Provided technical support to the Division of Nutrition in the development and management of the integrated nutrition database.
  6. Manage the nutrition website based at the Division of Nutrition. This will include gathering and review of the proposed/submitted website content, and ensuring an updated operational nutrition web-based database and network.
  7. Coordinate nutrition surveys in the country. This will include mobilizing partners to ensure high coverage of surveys in the country, ensuring all the surveys are done according to the national guidelines, evaluating the validity of the results and developing nutrition surveys data depository system at the Division of Nutrition.
  8. Share M&E data and recommendations in various coordination forums at national and sub-national level including contribution to the monthly nutrition updates and the quarterly bulletin.
Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Biostatistics or related field.
  • Previous experience/ qualification in Food Security or Health Programming and M & E is required.
  • Proven skills in multi-sectoral information analysis, interpretation and communication.
  • Knowledge of Database Design and Management with Statistical Analytical Software(including Ms-Excel, MS-Access, EPI-Info and SPSS is an added advantage.
  • Practical knowledge in the use of Geographical Information System (GIS).
  • Previous practical experience in website management and web-based database is an added advantage.
  • Good communication, networking and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Experience: At least 4 to 6 years professional experience in M& E for nutrition programmes or closely related technical areas.

Language:
 Fluency in English and Kiswahili. 

Other Competencies:
  • Ability to take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage database and translate large amounts of information/data into succinct findings and conclusions for management.
  • Attention to details.
