US AGENCY for International Development (USAID/Tanzania) Vacancy – Senior Agriculture and Food Security Advisor, GS-15

USAID/Tanzania seeks to recruit a qualified individual to provide leadership, expert advice and services in designing/developing, planning, implementing, managing and monitoring the Mission’s agriculture and food security portfolio.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree (or above) in an Agriculture-related field and/or International Development with an emphasis in Agriculture.
Work Experience: A minimum of twelve (12) years of agriculture development experience, including at least eight (8) years as a program manager and/or COTR for large organizations, with significant project management, project design, and project development experience.
Further, s/he must have at least five (5) years supervisory and senior level management experience with a good track
record of team building and rapid program scale up and successful implementation.

Knowledge and Skills: Proven management and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated leadership in a team environment with the ability to obtain results and work in a collegial and persuasive fashion is required. Proven record of effective, team-based working relationships, from staff to policymaking levels, with a wide range of individuals and organizations, including technical experts and contractors, host country partners (public and private sector), and international organizations is essential.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional counterparts at all levels, including those from host country Ministries and technical staff, business executives, civil society leaders, other US government agencies, and international organizations and other donors.
The candidate must demonstrate cross cultural sensitivity, tact and poise, as s/he will be called upon to interact with high level officials from a range of cultural backgrounds, including senior political representatives of the Government of Tanzania (GOT). Strong interpersonal skills and superior written and oral communication skills in English are essential. The ability to meet tight deadlines with concise documents and verbal interpretation is required.
Language Proficiency:

Level 4 (fluency — speaking, reading and writing English is required). Also, some familiarity with Swahili is desirable, but not required.
