The Sales and Business Development head shall be responsible for growing the business in terms of its market share by delivering high volume sales. They shall be entrusted to develop relationships with potential clients, governing bodies and other parties through whom the ultimate target of increasing and delivering sales shall be achieved.
The business development head shall individually; in their capacity as a sales person have targets of sales business to deliver to the company within fixed time periods.
The Post holder will have a retainer package and earn the rest of his remuneration from commission derived form the sales he manages to bring to the company. They shall report to the Executive director with his progress and the deliverable business that they manage VS the set targets.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • To develop new business relationships, generate and negotiate new income for the company to an agreed monthly target of Kshs 500,000 invoiced revenue, to increase quarter by quarter
  • Developing a pro-active approach to establish and maintain professional relationships with potential clients and others who may promote growth of business and market share in the industry
  • Work as a team leader of the entire Sales department ensuring their professional conduct and delivery of business
  • Develop a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability
  • Prepare action plans for individual as well as for team for effective conduct in the sales cycle
  • Possess drive, motivation and acute attention to detail in ensuring all sales opportunities to the company are captured and explored
  • Actively and successfully manage the sales process: lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solution pitch; negotiation; close; handover to the technical account management team and follow up to ensure successful product delivery
  • Have individual responsibility for new business and expected to self-manage, however, you may be part of a growing team of people with the same job title. Support is available by the managing and sales directors for complex large pitches and strategies
  • Create and be accountable for client proposals, quotations, contracts and any further documentation, following the company’s procedure
  • Lead and train the team of sales executives in their day to day endeavors focusing on achieving the organizations objectives and largely be accountable for the team to the management
  • Have a thorough understanding of clients marketing objectives including their Return On Investment (ROI) objectives
  • Responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner
  • You will effectively interact with other departments including the account management and technical team when handing over campaigns ensuring you fully and correctly brief in all aspects of the sale hence achieving coordination of the sales department with the entire organization structure
  • Sets examples for Sales Account Executives in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits
  • Make daily reports on activities of self
Essential Qualities
  • 2-4 years of experience in sales head / management in a relevant industry.
  • Result oriented and a high performer of duties
  • Strong interpersonal skills and human relations
  • Work with no supervision
  • Experience with enterprise software solutions and large, complex organizations.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Supplier / Sales Relationship Management.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Willingness to travel away from the city to meet prospective clients and work
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive sales teams.
Desirable Qualities
  • A relevant degree or diploma course in sales and marketing
  • Past experience working in the Microfinance, SACCO, Insurance, Banking and generally financial industry
  • Experience with financial management software, and financial accounting packages
  • Computer savvy and have a technical understanding of computer systems as a whole
