Development Director – Real Estate Jobs in Kenya

Summary
Responsible for overall strategic direction of the development projects of the Company on time, within budget and to the approved quality, within the East Africa region and coordination of these efforts internationally, as required
Key Duties & Responsibilities: (Include but not limited to the following)
  • Work with Managing Director/CEO of the Company to implement strategic priorities for development
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Develop business case for identified projects in consultation with Finance & Legal Director, Project      Services Director and Strategy Director and lead local negotiations
  • Identify and manage partnership opportunities to support the Company’s strategic priorities for development
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with strategic partners and develop a deep understanding of their long-term business strategies

  • Establish metrics to analyze and track performance of partner initiatives
  • Work with Project Services Director to partner with/ select suitable resources to carry out development activities
  • Perform necessary coordination to manage project sites
  • Develop facility management business around the newly developed facilities
  • Coordinate with Project Services Director for provision of suitable project services resources for the projects
  • Ensure application and compliance with Group Fraud Policy
  • Ensure that knowledge management database is updated regularly with all accurate and relevant information
  • Ensure adherence to Quality and Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) standards, as defined from time to time
Qualifications & Skills
A. Education and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in architecture/ civil engineering/ project management of land development/ construction management/ a land-related professional discipline
  • Minimum 12 – 15 years of relevant experience in project management and construction management,   in infrastructure projects and/ or real estate development
  • 8-10 years of experience in managing multiple-use real estate projects, some of which should have been large scale developments in excess of US$ 100 Mn and ideally in the geographical region relevant to the appointment
B. Specific Knowledge/ Skills
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of risk assessment
  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
  • Wide geographical exposure
