Group Financial Director: TKM Maestro Jobs in Kenya

TKM Maestro is a leading infrastructural solutions provider on a turnkey (Design and Build) module for Global Telecommunication leaders.

The Company is experiencing exponential growth and operates in Kenya and regionally in 6 other African countries (Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria & Gabon). In an effort to consolidate our position in Kenya and regionally and to further achieve competitive advantage we are looking for a candidate to fill the following position:

Group Financial Director

Reporting to the Directors of the Company, the Group Financial Director will primarily be responsible for the day to day activities of the Finance function and be accountable for the management and continuous improvement of financial accounting processes and


systems and the production of high quality management information.

The position holder will work closely with the Finance team, Engineering department, Internal Audit team as well as other teams within the Organisation.

Specific responsibilities will include:

a) Overseeing the Company’s budgeting process;
  • Ensure preparation of annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly budgets;
  • Preparation of cashflow forecasts and monitoring of the actual receipts and expenditure against forecasts as well as submission of timely reports to management .
b) Cash management
  • Ensure appropriate procedures put in place to safeguard the Company’s cash against misuse or fraud; these include reconciliations amongst other controls.
  • Manage the relationships with banks by participation in selection of core banking partners for various products/ services required by the business and agree on KPIs for service delivery
c) Manage accounts receivable and payable
  • To manage and ensure that the Company’s debt portfolio is maintained at acceptable levels;
  • Diligent adherence and implementation of processes and tools necessary to deliver forecasted collections;
  • Ensure all requests presented for payment either for goods, services or duty payments are appropriately supported by invoices, GRNs, custom documents and LPOs and approved by authorized company personnel within authority limits;
d) Management fixed assets and inventory
  • Maintain an up to date fixed asset register as well as a record of inventory
  • Ensuring proper controls are in place to safeguard the fixed assets and inventory against misuse and fraud; regular stock takes are conducted and all assets are properly insured.
e) Taxation management
  • Ensure that tax returns are prepared and submitted to KRA in accordance with the stipulated guidelines and the annual tax computation is prepared for the purposes of final audited accounts.
f) Financial reporting
  • Preparation of accurate and timely consolidated monthly management accounts and annual financial statements in accordance with the provisions of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).;
  • Implementation of a suitable accounting software (preferably SAP or Oracle) so as to manage project based accounts and ensure that the required reports are generated when required.
  • Liaise with the external auditors before, during and after the audit and providing the information required, as well as ensuring issues raised in management reports are addressed;
g) Administration
  • Administration of the payroll system and payment of casual staff as well as remittance of statutory deductions ie PAYE, NSSF, NHIF
  • Maintenance of staff HR records and administration of the staff medical scheme
Personal profile
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Finance) from a recognised university and CPA (K)
  • Post-graduate qualification in a Financial or Management related subject
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in project based accounting with an accounting software – Enterprise resource programme ( ERP) such as SAP or Oracle
  • Over 10 years experience, 5 of which should be in a similar capacity, managing a busy finance function in a large or medium sized organisation which has branches /subsidiaries.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • A team player and effective people management skills including the ability to establish good professional relationships
  • Ability to coach and train new staff within the Finance function
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines
  • Problem solving skill
