Export Manager

The successful candidate’s principal responsibility will be to accelerate growth and execute the sales and marketing plans which meet the brand, volume and profit objectives of existing and new trade channels.

The role has direct responsibility for opening up new trade channels and geographic territories as well as partner management in Ethiopia, Sudan, Rwanda and Malawi and managing non traditional outlets (NTO) in Kenya.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishes performance goals for the Country Managers and monitors performance and provide appropriate support on a continual basis.
  • Achieve the sales targets in the assigned markets, NTOs in Kenya and the regional tender business
  • Ensure growth and continuous development by identifying and harnessing new business opportunities as agreed with the General Manager
  • Set up new distribution channels, supply routes, pricing and credit terms in each of the markets
  • Ensure that the company Strategies and Policies are implemented and adhered to in the region
  • Work with the Marketing and Regulatory departments to ensure timely registration of new products.
  • Open up new Non Traditional Outlet channels / accounts and once established service the NTOs through the regional distributor
  • Partner management and efficient use of the assigned field force
  • This role is effectively managed by spending 75% of time in the field and 25% in the office

Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • A University graduate in Business Administration with a postgraduate marketing qualification.
  • An MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in progressively senior roles in FMCG sales
  • Demonstrated success in managing a dynamic sales team
  • Previous experience in exports markets will be a distinct advantage
  • Channel management and demand forecasting skills
  • Financial management and in-depth understanding of product and business P&L’s
  • Good understanding of regional trading blocs (COMESA/EAC)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high integrity
  • Refined negotiation and presentation skills
  • Proactive/ entrepreneurial/ self driven/ hungry for growth

Brand Manager

The successful candidate’s principal responsibility will be to grow the brands’ profitability through judicious use of A&P funds in East Africa.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing annual marketing plans and brand effort priorities.
  • Managing brand communication i.e. creative development and media (briefing, selection and evaluation)
  • Identifying new opportunities for growth in relation to new products, segments, geographies etc
  • Managing of advertising and promotions budgets and brand P&L accounts to achieve growth in a competitive environment.
  • Managing contingency A&P funds in response to changes in product demand to ensure brand profitability
  • Leading extended brand team comprising agencies and cross-functional team to realize brand initiatives.
  • Developing pricing strategies for multiple markets
  • Forecasting for product demand
  • Designing consumer and trade promotions and support materials.
  • Managing consumer, trade and product research (briefing, proposal evaluation and insight generation)

Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • A University graduate in Business Administration with a postgraduate marketing qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in sales/ marketing/ trade marketing
  • Understanding of brand strategy with regard to shoppers and the trade.
  • Interpretation of market & research data to develop compelling consumer and trade strategies.
  • The ability to brief, guide and evaluate third party creative and execution agencies
  • The ability to share the complex data available with the trade in a manner that is easy to understand and simultaneously ensure the company’s strategies are achieved.
  • The ability to manage and contribute to brand P&L
