Gold Star Kenya (GS Kenya) was established in 2010 as a local
Non-Governmental Organization; GS Kenya was born out of the success of the Gold
Star Network, a social franchise program initiative established in 2006 to
promote comprehensive quality HIV care amongst a network of private health
providers in Kenya. GS Kenya implements health related projects in Kenya
providing HIV care and treatment, as well as other health services in the areas
of family planning/reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent
health (FP/RMNCAH), nutrition, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

health, our current team is spread across six counties in Kenya.We are seeking
to fill the position of Grant Writer to be based in Nairobi.
Time
Total of 5 working days per month level of effort
Scope/ Key
Deliverables:
The Consultant will lead Gold Star Kenya’s proposal development
and writing in collaboration with our technical teams. The role envisaged
includes (but is not limited to) the following.
- Participate in
brainstorming sessions with the technical teams and potential
partners/collaborators
- Work with the
technical team in conceptualizing the approaches for different proposals
which Gold Star Kenya intends to Prime or Sub
- Study background
reference documents for the technical sections of the proposal
- Consolidate
relevant health data in target counties/regions and illustrate it
innovatively for use in the proposal technical sections
- Work closely
with technical counterparts to articulate their input for consolidation
into the main technical documents
- Participate in
technical team meetings, revision sessions, etc. as required
- Revise proposal
documents as needed
- The writer will
work closely with the Executive Director and relevant technical team
members to ensure that there is transfer of knowledge through joint
teamwork.
Minimum
Requirements:
- Demonstrated
grant writing technical experience resulting in major grant awards, with
preference given to experience with international funding and/or WASH,
RMNCAH, HIV/AIDS/TB , Climate change, Nutrition sector funding.
- Experience
collaborating with several multi-lateral and bilateral donors,
international health partners, and Government and civil society
representatives.
- Demonstrated
proficiency and experience in costing Strategies and/or Plans (national,
subnational, sectoral and for specific vulnerable or at-risk populations).
- Strong team
player with a proven record of accomplishment of organizational skills,
detail-oriented, and willingness to take initiative.
- 10+ years of
grant writing experience.
- Proficient with
measuring and reaching income goals.
- Proficient with
MS Office Word and Excel.
- Excellent
knowledge of fundraising information sources • Excellent communication
skills, both verbal and written.
