Principal Supply Chain Management Officer 

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;

  • Coordinate development and monitoring the implementation of the procurement and asset disposal plans in line with the approved budgets
  • Coordinate design, development and maintenance of sound procurement controls and systems.
  • Coordinate market research to keep abreast of the market developments.
  • Maintain and update the lists of registered/prequalified suppliers
  • Preparation and circulation of tender documents.
  • Co-ordinate the opening and evaluation of tenders
  • Prepare and submit profession opinion to guide the Director General on award decisions for tenders.
  • Act as Secretary in various procurement committees.
  • Notify bidders of the outcomes of the tenders submitted to KRB.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with suppliers.
  • Supervise the preparation of purchase orders
  • Monitor the implementation of contracts.
  • Coordinate process of disposal of obsolete, unserviceable and idle assets.

Qualifications


For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  • At least eight (8) years relevant work experience in public or private, three (3) of which must have been at a supervisory level;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Procurement and Supplies Management, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or equivalent
  • qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Be Member of professional body either KISM or CIPS in good standing;
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Attended a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Demonstrated results in work performance; and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
