Premises Maintenance

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Logistic Support Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, is recruiting an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of a premises maintenance supervisor.
Overall responsibility:
Premises maintenance supervisor is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted functionality and usability of all ICRC premises related facilities, tools, equipment, machine, appliances and resources at any given time.

Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Prepare, read interpret designs, drawings, and bills of quantities (estimates and costing) and work progress schedules for all civil works as necessary
  • Establish, maintain and ensure adequate security systems for workshop facilities to prevent theft, pilferage and damage to staff, property & equipment
  • Analyze and formulate solutions for the electrical, carpentry, masonry, or metal works, plumbing and painting and any other civil work
  • Assess the condition of new premises by filling the takeover form and write a report to the Premises responsible on needed repairs and a work plan
  • Ensure that office structures and residences are well maintained
  • Manage the maintenance workshop, facilities and control productivity
  • Prepare the budget of the maintenance unit and report monthly to the premises responsible
  • Assist the premises responsible in sourcing for contractors, negotiate contracts, prepare contract documents, analyses, evaluate and maintain the contractors list
  • Develop and implement a facility management program including preventive maintenance and life-cycle requirements
  • Supervise the maintenance team and prepare work schedules with the deputy head of maintenance and the premises responsible
  • Engages in ongoing and continuous feedback and support, particularly for employees under his/her supervision, but also other staff members
Minimum requirements and competencies:
  • Degree in building construction or mechanical engineering from a recognized institution
  • Minimum four years’ work experience as a supervisor in a similar field
  • Proven project management experience in real estate or office environment
  • Certification in project management is an asset
  • Considerable experience of managing staff and teams
  • Must be computer literate

Regional ICT Officer

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation in Nairobi, Kenya, is recruiting an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of regional ICT engineer.
Overall responsibility:
The regional ICT engineer is an expert who oversees technical infrastructure and systems in a wide or complex Area of Responsibility. S/he independently designs, installs, maintains and ensures optimal performance of complex ICT systems. S/he provides support at regional level for projects deployments, technical compliance, training and covers staffing gaps in the region.
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Independently contributes to the definition, documentation and support transition of new standards related to computer and telecommunication infrastructure
  • Independently leads installations, maintenance and adaptation of large / complex computer and telecommunications infrastructure projects according to ICRC standards
  • Monitors ICT installations throughout the region and in consultation with the ICT head of region and coordinators, takes appropriate measures to guarantee their evolution and their proper functioning and that policies and procedures are followed
  • Tests ICT services and infrastructure, (hardware and software) to ensure optimal performance and compliance
  • Provides expert level technical support and training on ICT related matters in the region
Minimum requirements and competencies:
  • Master of science, engineering degree or equivalent work experience in electronics, computer science, telecommunications or similar field
  • At least two years of relevant equivalent work experience
  • Minimum four years’ experience as Junior ICT Engineer or equivalent previous experience
  • One year of people-management experience is a strong asset
  • Certification in project management is an asset
  • Systems and network certifications (CCNA, Windows Server etc)
  • ICT management certification (ITIL) is an asset
  • Proven strong competences in Enterprise grade Networking technologies (wired, Wireless, TCP/IP protocols, switching, Routing, SD-WAN, SD-LAN, etc.)
