Position: Management
Accountant
Industry: Shipping and Logistics
Reports to: Group Chief Finance Officer
Location: Mombasa (With frequent travel)
This role is tasked with preparation, development and
analysis of financial information for informed and better management decisions.
The incumbent is expected to provide proactive, and high-quality service
through liaison with management on all aspects of Finance.
Key performance areas:
Financial Planning
- Forecasting,
trend analysis, budgeting and long-term financial planning aligned to the
overall corporate strategy
- Budgeting
controls and budget variance analysis
- Projects
forecasting, including break even analysis and cost-benefit analysis to aid
in decision making
- Cash
flow planning
- Actively
participate in pricing decisions, and reviews for long term profitability
- Monitor
client profitability.
Developing Management Information
Systems
- Maintain
the relevant chart of accounts
- Manage
access right to financial systems.
- Coordinate
accounting operations and activities
- Monitor
unusual transactions such as credit notes and transactions posted through
journals.
- Preparation
of accurate and timely management accounts and the supporting notes/
comments.
- Ensure
proper costing, analyzing different accounts and prepare reports
- monitoring
and evaluating financial information and suggesting improvements where
needed
Strategic investment and Maintaining
optimum capital structure
- Creating
business strategies to generate shareholder value.
- Identify
proper mix between debt and equity
- Submit
proposals on investment of company idle funds
- Provide
Strategic and financial management advice.
Cost Control
- Ensure
optimal cost management (within budgets) and recommend avenues for Cost
Reduction
- Maintain
and manage the Capex process
- Conduct
Cost-benefit analysis
Financial Management
- Establish
and maintain relevant financial policies, SOPs, guidelines and financial
systems.
- Encourage
/ maintain strong corporate financial governance.
- Implementing
corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
- Ensure
timely reporting including those of affiliates and subsidiaries
Taxation, statutory & stakeholder management
Skills and Qualifications
- A
Master’s Degree in Finance or its equivalent
- Bachelor’s
degree in Finance or Accounting or its equivalent
- CPA
(K) or ACCA certification
- Minimum
of 3 – 5 years similar management accounting experience.
- Fluency
in English, and Swahili. Skills
