The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN
headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General.
We support programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UNHABITAT) globally, as well as
other UN offices in Kenya, by providing Administrative, conference, Security and
information services (www.unon.org).
The UNON Human Resource Assistant internship is for 6
months.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the
supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are
assigned.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s
background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the supporting supervision of the Chief, Talent
Development Centre and delegated Human Resources Assistant, the intern will:

Provide support in the management of
the Global internship programme.
·
Maintain files, materials,
information, schedules and related data.
·
Support the onboarding and induction
briefing for national and international interns assigned to UNON, UNEP &
UN-Habitat.
·
Assist the Hiring Managers with
shortlisting suitable candidates and conducting eligibility checks
·
Managing email correspondence from
clients and applicants .
·
Support in the preparation of
contract extensions and/or renewal documents.
·
Research and prepare various
statistical and qualitative reports.
·
Manage training rooms.
·
Contribute to the work of the Talent
Development Centre of the Human Resources Management Service.
·
Assist in processing HR data
analytics
·
Assist in presenting reports using
data visualization techniques and communicate results and ideas to key decision
makers.

Assist in Research and development of
statistical data models for data Analysis
·
Participate in meetings and
performing any other support tasks as required.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the
leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental
agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of
sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an
authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP’s Science Division is
responsible for analyzing the state of the global environment, providing early
warning information and assessing global and regional environmental trends to
catalyze and promote international cooperation and action on the environment.
The internship is located in the UNEP’s Science Division,
Financial Management Unit at the Nairobi duty station. This advertisement is
seeking two interns to work in the Financial Management Unit in the Science
Division of UNEP.
The duration of an Internship is three months minimum;
maximum is six months.

Under the direct supervision of the Finance and Budget
Officer, the selected intern is expected to:-

Assist in the preparation of excel
tables reflecting status of Funds for different projects in direct coordination
with the Funds Management Officer.

Compiles a variety of standard
statistical and other reports, work orders, etc using various databases.
·
Follow up on actions related to the
Financial Management Unit activities, e.g payments, receipt of funds, ineed
tickets to UNON, etc.
·
Assist in the Front Office, checking
submitted routing slips for certification for correctness and communicate
discrepancies to supervisors.
·
Assist in the issuance of office
stationery items and monitoring stock levels for replenishment schedule.
·
Filing of documents related to all
projects and make sure that these files are up-to date.
·
Performs other duties as may be
assigned.

Public Information Internship
Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is the UN Secretariat department responsible for bringing
together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to complex
emergencies and natural disasters. OCHA also ensures that there is a framework
within which each actor can contribute to the overall response effort.This
internship will be based in the OCHA’s Regional Office for Southern and Eastern
Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, and the intern will be under the general guidance and
direct supervision of the Head of the Communications Unit. The internship is
being offered for a minimum period of three (3) months, with a possibility of
extension up to a maximum period of six (6) months, starting as soon as
possible.
Responsibilities

In general, the intern will support
OCHA in fulfilling its mission to coordinate effective and principled
humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors;
advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention; and
facilitate sustainable solutions.

Daily responsibilities will depend on
the individual’s background and will be related to public information and
reporting, where s/he will become familiar with international humanitarian
emergency response mechanisms.

Duties may include but are not
limited to: assisting in the collection of information, including news
articles, on humanitarian issues in the region; assisting with the production

Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

equivalent); or

Have graduated with a university
degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period
of graduation from an academic programme. Applicants who are unable to commence
the internship within one year of graduation shall not be accepted. The
University degree must be preferably in the area of communication, journalism,
international relations, public administration or in a related field.
Work Experience
·
Applicants are not required to have
professional working experience for participation in the Programme though any
academic and/or practical experience in communications, journalism,
humanitarian affairs issues or international relations is desirable.
·
Familiarity with graphic design
software (e.g. Adobe InDesign and Illustator), photo and video editing tools
(e.g Adobe Photoshop and Premiere), social media platforms, web analytics tools
and/or content management tools (e.g. Drupal) would be an asset.
·
Applicants should be computer
literate in standard software applications; have a demonstrated keen interest

General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and
cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.
The UN-Habitat Research and Programme Portfolio
Development internship is for 6 months.

UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2020-23.

Support UN-Habitat’s portfolio
development by conducting research and literature review on selected themes
related to housing and sustainable urbanization; collect, analyze, interpret and
present primary and secondary data and other information gathered from diverse
sources, mainly dealing with implementation of the New Urban Agenda and urban
SDG targets at regional and national levels.

Assist in the preparation of outputs
e.g. concept notes, background papers, technical papers, and other
documentation that may be necessary, drafts communications related to these.
·
Support the team in drafting reports
and substantively editing of key documents prepared by team members.

Assist in the preparation,
implementation, monitoring and reporting of projects and programmes within the
