Salary Range: Ksh. 400,000 (dependent on experience)

Reporting to the Executive Director, and in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Chief Operating Officer will spearhead our multi-million dollar expansion efforts in Kenya as we prepare to significantly increase our programs and double the size of our school.

This position is based in Njabini, Kenya 

We only want to see candidates who have had a few years’ experience in a senior leadership position of an international NGO with a budget greater than 100,000 USD p.a.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the programmatic operation of the Organisation
  • Establish staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach
  • Establish and monitor program performance metrics
  • Serve as the management liaison to the board and audit committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select Board of Directors and committee meetings
  • Provide analytical support to the Organisation' internal management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities
Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in managing a non-profit organization
  • Excellent judgment, integrity and problem solving skills
  • Strong mentoring experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Self-reliant and results-oriented person, who can live and work in a rural community
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Board of Directors, and staff
  • Passion for social justice
  • Up-to-date Children's Check and National Police Check (Cert of Good Conduct)
