Salary Range: Gross 300,000 - 400,000 plus Medical Cover
Our client is a leading tours and travel firm that has been in existence for
over 25 years.
They currently have offices in Kenya
and South Sudan and target clientele is high net worth individuals and
corporates.
The Chief Accountant will be
responsible for the smooth operation of finance department.
He or she is responsible for
providing financial information to management by managing the department,
verifying data produced, and ensuring the financial health of the company and
making sure the company is compliant with all statutory requirements.
Areas of Responsibilities
1. Budgeting & Cash flow
management
- Spearhead budgeting and cash flow planning
initiatives in co-operation with other departments to ensure proper
financial planning for the firm is done.
- Ensure a robust financial reporting system is
in place with the right software and personnel in place
2. Managing Accounts Department
- Ensuring that the staff are properly trained
- Proper distribution of staff roles in the
department
- Ensuring that all work done is verified and
correct
3. Managing daily accounts activity
- Managing Accounts Receivables and Payables
- Collection and posting of all expenses and
revenues
- Proper record keeping of all financial
information
4. Overseeing monthly activity
- Ensure that proper management reports are
created every month for analysis
- Preparation and processing of the pay roll
5. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure all statutory payments are made on time
and that the company is compliant on all tax obligations.
6. Managing Relationships
- Manage relationships with key
stakeholders including banks, suppliers, and key customers.
Ideal Candidate
- The person interested in this position must be
a graduate and possess a professional qualification in accounting (CPA,
ACCA) and well versed in an accounting ERP. Tours and Travel experience
desired but not mandatory.
- They must have held a senior accounting role
for a period not less than 5 years in a sizeable company, managing a team
of accountants.
- Must have extensive experience on tax matters.
I.e. having handled KRA audits is an advantage.
- Good relationship building skills with
financial institutions i.e. bank, suppliers and corporate customers.
- Additionally, they must be polished i.e. have
great inter-personal, communication (verbal and written), and presentation
skills.
