Policy Administration Assistant - Medical

Job Purpose: Responsible for customer service in the Underwriting section, particularly tasks involving policy membership, premium changes and endorsements in the course of the cover period.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accurate membership records (entry and exit of members into and from existing policies)
  • Process premium debit/credit notes, member schedules and premium statements.
  • Processing and timely dispatch of membership cards to clients and intermediaries.
  • Dispatch renewal notices to clients, Brokers and Agents at least 3 months to the policy renewal date.
  • Processing Agents’ commissions.
  • Administration and maintenance of outpatient fund accounts for allocated policies
  • Prompt collection of outstanding premiums.
  • Handle customer service issues relating to membership, scope of cover, premiums and commissions.
Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in any business related field.
Professional Qualifications
  • Good progress towards achievement of the Insurance Diploma from College of Insurance or Chartered Insurance Institute (UK)
Relevant Work Experience
  • 2 Years working experience in underwriting of medical business with a reputable insurance company, Broker or HMO

Business Development Officer - Medical

Job Purpose:
 The Business Development Officer is responsible for market development and sales for the independent Agents distribution channel.  

He/She will ensure that cordial relations are maintained with partner agencies based on sufficient customer service to translate into new business.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Agents relationship by identifying partner agents and nurturing excellent relations with them through constant contact and excellent customer service in order to facilitate a steady inflow of business.
  • Prospect for new business quotations from agents and direct clients.  Close follow up to ensure at least 60% conversion of the quotations done into new business.
  • Co-ordinate business promotion activities e.g. branding and advertising for the various markets.
  • Maintain and circulate quality management reports.
  • Product Development by working closely with the underwriting team by giving feed-back on market dynamics and customer needs to facilitate continues review and enhancement of products.
  • Timely follow up of bid bonds for unsuccessful tenders within the quarter of participating month.
  • Ensure reliable technical support to agents through effective business presentations and business meetings.
  • Debtors management: work closely with the membership administration team to ensure that outstanding premiums are collected promptly.
  • Continuous training of agents on product knowledge.
Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or any other Business related field.
  • KCSE Grade C+ and above.
Professional Qualifications
  • Diploma in Insurance from College of Insurance or Chartered Insurance Institute (UK)
Relevant Work Experience
  • 3 Years experience in Medical, 2 years in Marketing, Business Development & Relationship Management gained from a reputable insurance Company/HMO or Insurance Brokerage.

Provider Management Assistant - Medical

Job Purpose
: To ensure retention of medical business by enhancing good relationship with the appointed service providers.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain excellent relationship with the service providers.
  • Hospital audit and accreditation for panel maintenance and support.
  • Review existing contracts and negotiate with service providers for fair rates/discounts.
  • Proper provider relations and forensic unit document management.
  • Conduct impromptu audits of the medical service providers, to ensure all our contracted providers adhere to CIC rules and procedures regarding member access to service and policy exclusions.
  • Implementation of capitation project at the service provider level.
  • Ensure new providers are installed with SMART at entry into the panel and ensuring all existing providers are compliant.
Academic Qualifications
  • Diploma in Nursing (A Degree in Nursing or health systems management will be an added advantage).
Professional Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse.
Relevant work experience
  • 2 Years working experience in a medical facility.  
  • Experience in Medical Insurance will be an added advantage.

Underwriting Assistant - Medical

Job Purpose
: A key role in Underwriting, Medical Business

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Processing of membership movements (new members and exits)
  • Preparing premium debit/credit notes, members schedules and premium statements and dispatch the same to clients.
  • Ensuring renewal notices are dispatched to clients and intermediaries.
  • Policy renewal – membership update and premium costing
  • Preparing and issuing policy documents and renewal endorsements.

Corporate Business Development Manager - CIC Life

Job Purpose: To focus on growing Corporate Life Business from Brokers and Intermediaries

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Developing a business acquisition strategy for corporate life business.
  • Building relationships with key corporate clients and intermediaries.
  • Growing revenue and profits from brokers and intermediaries as per plan.
  • Segmenting the corporate markets targeted and developing tailor-made solutions to meet identified needs.

ICT Infrastructure Manager

Job Purpose: This is a key role in ICT underlining network infrastructure and its associated technology operate efficiently, performing within agreed targets that deliver a secure platform for CIC Insurance Group to carry out its business.
Role / Job Description


  • Working with the Group Head of ICT and the ICT Service Manager to define and implement the Group’s ICT strategy, you will also proactively provide 2nd/3rd line support as required, and act as an escalation point for major issues in order to maximize service availability within agreed SLAs.
  • Manage the ICT environment including networks, servers, desktop/laptop and operating systems.
  • Ensure that ICT support staff maintain their customer focus, are kept abreast of new technological developments and to provide in-house training when required.
  • Assist the Group ICT Manger in developing long term strategic plans for the development of the ICT requirements within the CIC Insurance Group.
  • Ensuring ICT is able to deliver comprehensive service that meets the business requirements and is aligned to the company policies and corporate strategic aims and objectives.
  • Monitoring and testing the ICT Disaster Recovery plan, in order to ensure service resilience in the event of a Business Continuity incident.
  • To negotiate between ICT application support, other subsidiaries, departments and external suppliers to resolve often highly technical or contentious issues and conflicts to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Job Purpose: This is a key role in the ICT infrastructure.  The network LAN/WAN, telephony and virtualization environments depend on this role.

Role / Job Description
  • Overseeing administration, management and maintenance of computer network systems and data circuits.
  • Responsible for computer network planning, administration and operations activities
  • Perform a variety of technical duties related to the installation and maintenance of the computer network and communications hardware and software systems including network and application servers, routers, firewall, LAN, WAN and phone systems.
  • Responsible for the configuration and installation of network and internet security.
  • Responsible for the configuration and installation of all network software packages
  • Responsible for the IT disaster backup and recovery systems
  • Supervise the network technical staff.
Academic Qualifications

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Job Purpose: Responsible for development of IT Strategic plans, policies, programs, computer services, network communication and management information services to accomplish Corporate goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement the business strategy to ensure overall achievement of the Group’s goals;
  • Establish and direct the strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for the information technology department;
  • Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the Group as a member of the senior management team;
  • Lead ICT strategic and operational planning to achieve Group goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization;
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets;
  • Direct development and execution of a Group-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan;
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business;
  • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources;
  • Supervise information system and communications network;
  • Develop and implement a customer service platform to serve the Group in every aspect;
  • Design, establish, and maintain a network infrastructure for local and wide area connectivity and remote access;
  • Participate in vendor contract negotiations for all new computer equipment and software purchased for the Group;
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the information technology department including directing staff, who support administrative computing,    networking, user services, telecommunications and other information technology functions;
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale ;
  • Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems;
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance and;
  • Supervise train and develop staff to achieve a highly productive and motivated team.
Skills & Attributes
  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or IT related field with relevant professional certifications.
  • A Master’s degree in a Business related field;
  • Possess at least one professional IT qualification in either CISM or CISA or CCNA/P or MCSE/A or ITIL
  • At least 10 years’ experience with not less than 5 years in a senior management position and in in a wide area network with recent responsibilities in IT infrastructure development.
  • Experience in design, implementation and commissioning of Groupwide ERP systems will be a plus.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for all aspects of IT through progressive involvement in the application of ICT to business processes.
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking, telephony equipment and software.
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of PC operating systems and core applications, UNIX and Windows operating systems, Internet services, systems engineering and support, network infrastructure design and support
  • An sound understanding of portfolio, programme and project management and a track record of delivering and enabling large-scale complex change programmes.
  • An understanding of key ICT management standards, including but not limited to ITIL, PRINCE.
