Job Title: Research Coordinator / Project Data Manager 
 
Reports To: Project Manager
 
Location: Nairobi with frequent travel to Githunguri
 
Duration: 1 year fixed term contract 
 
Start Date: Immediately

Purpose of the Role: To collect, analyze, document and present data regards projects on application of technology in the agricultural industry. It also involves writing of findings in course of project to be published in a blog

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing research proposals on our technology impacts to stakeholders in the value chain;
  • Designing research methodologies;
  • Overseeing implementation of research projects/surveys
  • Writing reports on the research
  • Update our project blog on the various findings and articles about impact of technology on agriculture.
  • Liaise with the farmers and other stakeholders in retrieving data and organizing data for various research questions from the databases.
  • Ensure quality data for analysis by cleaning research data retrieved from the databases and document necessary corrections.
  • Perform preliminary analysis to identify potential data anomalies.
  • Contribute to the design of protocols, which define what and when data are to be collected.
  • Design and approve forms on which data are collected.
  • Perform Quality Assurance checks.
  • Advise and perform appropriate queries and summary reports from the databases and assist in development of associated databases and ensuring they meet requirements for the entry and reporting of data.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in Research, Agriculture, Technology or related field. A masters’ degree (or on going Masters) with requirement to do a relevant research will be an added advantage;
  • At least three years’ experience in desk and field research;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
  • Intelligent, innovative and a team player;
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in project management and reporting

Job Title: Training Coordinator / Trainer of Trainers Opportunity

Job Description: To design a curriculum that will be used by farmers, processors and agro dealers, Training of trainers in the field, Motivation of the staff as well as facilitate training sessions and workshops with management and mentorship responsibilities.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Support the Training activities in revising and implementing a curriculum designed to support staff at all levels of the organization, as well as curriculum for farmers, agro dealers and processors to enable them meet their full potential.
  • Curriculum Design: Design and implement world-class curriculum for the employees as well as a curriculum that supports the field operations.
  • Revise, implement, and evaluate the Training of Trainers program to ensure all trainings meet organizations high standards.
  • Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation: Assess immediate learning outcomes at all levels of the organization and field training activities for evaluating the long-term impact of the project.
  • Management and Mentorship: The Trainer will have the responsibility for the mentorship and development of our team as they take on greater and more complicated responsibilities as well as train the field staff to achieve projects objectives.
Qualifications
  • 2-5+ years of work experience, preferably in the education field. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

Job Title: Project Manager

Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract 

Purpose of the Role: To take overall project responsibility for implementing Projects over the next one year, ensuring that key deliverables are met. 

This role entails engaging dairy farmers and Agro dealer entrepreneurs and Processors to ensure increased production and productivity at farm level, as well as ensure technology introduced is embraced by various stakeholders.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Manage projects’ day to day operations
  • Representing the projects’ interests
  • Provide advice on the management of the project
  • Organize the various professional people working on a project
  • Carrying out risk assessment
  • Make sure that all the aims of the project are met
  • Use IT systems to keep track of people and progress
  • Recruit specialists and sub-contractors for the project
  • Monitor sub-contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained
  • Oversee the accounting, costing and billing
  • Manage partners both market partners and financial partners
  • Ability to fund raise through project proposals, meetings and pitches to concerned parties
  • Build the business case of the project and move it to commercialization
  • Lead and support roll out of a business model including recruitment of  farmers and Agrovet Shop Entrepreneurs and processors.

Job Title: Field Coordinator 
 
Reports To: Project Manager
 
Location: Nairobi with frequent travel to Githunguri
 
Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract 
 
Salary: Negotiable

Purpose of the Role: The candidate will be involved in coordinating, implementing, monitoring and reporting all of the activities planned for the project.
 
Specifically, the candidate will:
  • Participate in, and facilitate trainings and meetings with project stakeholders
  • Assist in project implementation through facilitation, coordination and supervision of all the projects data collection exercises.
  • Manage individual exercise budgets.
  • Identify and maintain database of farmers and all stakeholders of the project
  • Mobilize the farmers and the agro dealers for workshop/training activities
  • Identify return movements and provide regular reports providing situation analysis.
  • Maintain network with local authorities and other stakeholders in order to: provide an overview of the demographic profile of the players of the agricultural value chain; and prepare responses to requests from local authorities, and the public regarding program information.
  • Assist in conducting project related assessments, surveys and evaluations.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned as from time to time
Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Skills
  • Degree / Diploma in Agricultural course related to livestock.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in working in agricultural value chain.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili. Added advantage would be knowledge and communication in Kikuyu the Local language in Githunguri
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and Access and internet use;
  • Prior work experience in Central region of Kenya and familiarity with community strategies, structures and processes as well as willingness to frequently visit these regions specifically Githunguri region;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact successfully with a diverse group of individuals and champion a team spirit;
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times especially in relation to partner activities
  • Detailed knowledge of the Dairy Value Chain will be of added advantage
