Engineers
Job Group ‘L’

The Engineers will be responsible to the Directors Roads & Transport and Public Works
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitoring and execution of work in
specialized fields of Engineering
- Planning, design, supervision of construction,
contracts, materials, investigation and research related to buildings,
direction, control and supervision of maintenance of various
structures/roads.
- Ensure design, Construction and maintenance
standards are adhered to
- Prepare regular and periodical reports for the
projects
- Any other duties assigned
Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering,
- Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management is
an added advantage,
- At least three years’ experience in a busy
organization,
- Be registered with the engineer’s registration
board of Kenya (EBK).
- A current valid practicing license from the
Engineer’s Registration Board of Kenya.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications
and Computer Aided designs (AutoCAD and design software’s).
- Good Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to

Architects
Job Group ‘L’

The Architects will be responsible to
the Director Public Works
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work on architectural projects within the
County including liaison and design.
- Assist the County Engineer in the day to day
operations of the County designs & providing various pre-design
services
- Take responsibility for Time Management of
assigned jobs
- Keep an accurate daily record of the time
spent on each assigned job
- Attend meetings and provide reports to the
Director on a regular basis reading the progress of individual projects
under their responsibility.
Requirements for Appointment
- Be Kenyan citizen.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in architecture from a
recognized university.
- Have sound technical knowledge of
architectural project delivery.
- Demonstrable skills in the areas of design,
presentation and technical skills.
- Proficiency with Auto CAD/Civil 3 dimensions.
- Computer literacy using Microsoft Office
Products and presentation software.
- Experience of 3 years and above in the
relevant filed.

Quantity Surveyors
Job Group ‘L’

The Quantity Surveyor will be
responsible to the Director Public Works
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluation and Reporting on contractual claims
from Contractors,
- Checking valuations for payment to contractors,
- Resolution of disputes on cases requiring
litigation or arbitration.
- Responsible for cost information services,
control and implementation of tendering and procuring procedures for
construction projects,
- Preparation of cost hand books handling correspondence,
reports and papers on policy matters.
- Preparation of cost estimates, bills of
quantities, monthly valuation on site, site measurements,
- Preparation of variation orders and final
accounts involving the implementation of development projects for the
County.
- Supervise quantity surveying services in the
county and supervise the staff working under him or her.
Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- A Bachelor’s degree in building
economics/quantity surveying or its equivalent from a recognized
university and relevant qualifications from an institution recognized in
Kenya.
- At least three years’ experience in a busy
organization.
- Be registered with the board of registration
of architects and quantity surveyors of Kenya as a quantity surveyor.
- Membership of the Institute of Quantity
Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) or Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK).
- Demonstrate a high degree of professional
competence and administrative capacity required for effective planning,
direction, control and coordination of quantity surveying functions.

- Assisting in the planning of supervision
programmes for large complex buildings/roads projects
- Monitoring and supervision of works in

- Assisting in preparation of monthly physical
progress reports of individual projects

adhered to during construction of buildings/ roads.
- Arranging for testing of materials
- Preparation of cost estimates and schedule of
materials for simple buildings/roads on labour contracts

Transport Officer
Job Group ‘K’

Duties & Responsibilities
- Transport coordination.
- Supervising officers in transport department,
arranging and ensuring training, retraining and recertification of drivers
and registration of vehicles.
- Ensuring regular maintenance of vehicles.
- Ensuring that vehicles have the requisite
documents for operation.
- Ensuring efficient use and accurate accounting
for all vehicles and expenditure made by transport section.
- Advising on procurement specifications of
vehicles and training needs for drivers
- Preparing regular and comprehensive reports
for the section
- Perform any other duty that may be assigned
from time to time
Requirements
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any Social Science/
Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
- Served in an equivalent position as a transport
officer for a minimum period of three (3) years.

Legal Officer

The legal officer will be responsible
to the Head of Legal Services in the County Legal Unit.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice to the County
government
- Interpreting relevant legislation and their
implication to the County Government;
- Providing legal guidance and facilitating the
necessary gazzettement;
- Drafting contracts, lease agreements and
memorandum of understanding between the county government and its
collaborators
- Articulating county position in meetings,
seminars, negotiations, conventions.
- Ensuring implementation and realization of
strategic plans and objectives in respect of the legal function.
- Handling legal instruments in the County.
- Undertake policy research and formulate policy
briefs
- Facilitate public participation and
consultative meetings in the development of policies and laws
- Ensuring compliance of laws and policies with
principles and values of governance, human rights, transparency,
accountabilty, ethics and integrity within the county
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
Requirements
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Be holder of Bachelor of Laws degree from a
recognized institution;
- Be a holder of Diploma in Legal Education from
the Council for Legal Education;
- Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- Possess a current practicing certificate and
MUST be a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
- Practiced in the public or private sector for
a minimum period of at least five (5) years;
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the
Constitution of Kenya;
- Possess leadership qualities, interpersonal
and effective communication skills; and
- Certificate in Computer Application Skills.

3. Legal Researcher

Will perform duties in the County
Legal Department
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviewing and documenting data relevant to a
case, including generating pre-trial preparation documents.
- Verifying information gathered on witnesses,
plaintiffs and defendants involved in the case.
- Compiling evidence for court actions and
analyze legal questions and existing facts or evidence.
- Interviewing officers of the county as
potential witnesses to civil suits
- Preparing legal documents under the direction
of the head of legal services
- Conducting research using various resources
including legal periodicals, online legal sources and books in the law
library
- Preparing legal briefs and legal opinions
under the direction of the head of legal services
- Maintain and update information on new
development in law for the use of the legal department
