Our
client in the manufacturing industry is looking to fill the position of a Chief
accountant.
The
individual shall be responsible for maintaining highest levels of integrity,
quality and timeliness in financial reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing the accounting function including: budgeting, cash flow management, payroll, reporting, records management, financial variance and accounts analysis
- Ensuring compliance with various legal requirements regarding licenses, rates, labor laws and tax returns
- Facilitating annual external audits; all these, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Managing the accounting department
- Assisting in the development and adherence of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures for the organization
- Monitoring Balance sheet and Income Statement account movements and ensuring that they reflect the correct balances and all relevant account reconciliations are performed and corrective actions taken in time
- Preparation of requisite schedules for the annual audit
- Maintenance of the fixed asset registers
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor degree in Business related field
- Must be ACCA/CPA Graduate
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an accountant with atleast 2 in a supervisory role
- Applicants from a manufacturing setting preferred
- Knowledge in SAP
- Exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards
- Is a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resources
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Result oriented, self-motivated and energetic.
- Computer literacy and good knowledge of accounting packages
- Good communication and presentation skills at a senior level
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Should be a team player
- Provision of accounting support to other Functional Units
