Chief Internal Auditor 

KEFRI.13

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Head of Internal Audit.
  • Secretary to Audit Committee.
  • Prepare Audit Committee reports.
  • Planning and coordination of interns/audit activities.
  • Prepare, negotiate and sign performance contracts with the Director and cascade to officers.
  • Staff appraisal.
  • Budgeting and control of resources.
  • Formulate and implement audit procedures and regulations.
  • Develop audit management systems.
  • Undertake audit investigations as may be required.
  • Prepare audit reports and follow up on implementation of recommendations.
  • Undertake monitoring and evaluation of the audit activities.
  • Compile quarterly and annual reports.
  • Allocate duties and supervise audit staff.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements for Appointment

The candidates must be in possession of:
  • Masters degree in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance Option or its equivalent).
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting/Finance Option)
  • Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) or its equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years in the grade of Principal Internal Auditor or in a comparable position in a similar Institution.
  • Computer literate.
Administrative Officer II

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate office services. 
  • Coordinate and supervise transport. 
  • Supervise health and safety of staff. 
  • Ensure safety of buildings and equipment. 
  • Planning of office accommodation and layout. 
  • Supervise maintenance of office equipment and furniture. 
  • Provision of staff uniform. 
  • Manage offices services and estates.
  • Provision of tools, stationery and office equipment. 
  • Efficient and effective utilization of office resources. 
  • Discharge postal services. 
  • Provision of secretarial services. 
  • Supervise communication services. 
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Duty station will be Kitui Regional Research Centre

Requirements for Appointment
  • The candidate must be in possession of: Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from a recognized Institution. 
  • Part I of the Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya or Diploma in Management from a recognized Institution. 
  • Three (3) years experience as an Administrative Officer. 
  • Computer literate.
Planning and Budgeting Officer

Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Preparation of institute budget including sector and internal budget. 
  • Carry out planning activities and proposals for construction Projects. 
  • Monitoring and evaluation of planning and budgeting activities. 
  • Monitor performance contracting at all stages. 
  • Review of development projects and program
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements for Appointment
  • Served in the grade of Economist II for at least three years or a comparable position. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics. 
  • Computer literacy.
Research Scientist II (Biometrician)

KEFRI 9

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assist research scientists in design of experiments, field layouts, social studies, data analysis, interpretation of results and reporting. 
  • Assist scientists in designing research tools for data collection and management 
  • Identify biometrical and statistical needs of the scientists and that of institute and strategize how to address them. 
  • Organize and conduct relevant refresher courses for scientists and technical support staff to effectively integrate biometry in research. 
  • Oversee management of research protocols, databases and applications 
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements for Appointment 
  • Msc degree from recognized university in Biometry /Statistics 
  • Research experience of at least two (2) years with proven quantifiable contributions in relevant field such as publications 
  • Demonstrate knowledge on a range of statistical software and packages such as GENSTAT, SPSS, R, STATA, SAS among others 
  • Demonstrate knowledge on relational databases and applications
