Position Title: 
Finance/Grants Manager, Yes Youth Can! Strengthening Activism and Skills Advancement (Kenya Youth SASA) program, Central and Western provinces


Position Summary:

The Finance/Grants Manager (FGM) will exercise financial oversight of the USAID-funded Kenya Yes Youth Can! Strengthening Activism and Skills Advancement (Kenya Youth SASA) Program in Western and Central Provinces.

Kenya Youth SASA is designed to empower and engage Kenyan youth under the new constitution and improve their socioeconomic status by building youth skills, promoting civic participation, applying new technology and strengthening public-private partnerships.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Manage all financial and accounting aspects of program operations, including donor reporting
  • Organize and maintain all records and files in accordance with national, Winrock and donor requirements
  • Liaise with various subrecipients to ensure that Winrock receives appropriate accountability of all funds
  • Review subrecipients’ financial reports, monitor compliance with USAID regulations
  • Provide financial, accounting, and grant management training to build the capacity of project staff and partners’ personnel as needed
  • Manage relations with banking institutions
  • Maintain bank and cash records
  • Submit monthly expense reports and cash flow statements to Winrock Home Office
  • Prepare projections for monthly cash needs
  • Submit funds request to Winrock Home Office
  • Prepare monthly payroll and related taxes, including the recording of applicable benefits
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and petty cash no less than monthly and report any discrepancies to Country Director
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, develop projections, budget variance analyses, and financial planning/risk management strategies and reports
  • Work with Winrock Home Office to prepare quarterly financial reports to USAID
  • Prepare all accounting records in accordance with audit standards (donor and local), and oversee on-site work with auditors, as appropriate
Qualifications

Education: Higher education in accounting, finance or relevant field

Work Experience: 
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working with international organizations and, preferably, USAID projects.
  • Proven track record of training, supervising, and monitoring grantees/subrecipients.
Skills: 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent financial record-keeping and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of NGO development, preferably East Africa.
Other: English fluency required

Program Assistant/Office Manager, Yes Youth Can! Strengthening Activism and Skills Advancement (Kenya Youth SASA) program, Central and Western provinces

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant (PA) will provide administrative and programmatic support services for the USAID-funded Kenya Yes Youth Can! Strengthening Activism and Skills Advancement (Kenya Youth SASA) Program in Western and Central Provinces.

Kenya Youth SASA is designed to empower and engage Kenyan youth under the new constitution and improve their socioeconomic status by building youth skills, promoting civic participation, applying new technology and strengthening public-private partnerships.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Manage all administrative aspects of office operations, including procurement, maintenance of office and personnel records, and handling of outside inquiries.
  • Handle all front office functions including answering phones, ordering office supplies, and maintaining office vendor relationships
  • Establish and maintain filing systems and resources
  • Assist senior staff and program specialists in preparing and carrying out program activities
  • Assist with organizing meetings, coordinating logistics, and preparing necessary materials for program activities
  • Handle travel arrangements, which includes obtaining visas; arranging hotel stays; and overseeing compliance with donor travel regulations and Winrock policies
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Winrock.
Qualifications

Education: Associates degree or relevant prior experience.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of experience in administrative and office management.
  • Experience with personnel file management and office reception responsibilities.
  • Preferably worked on U.S. Government-funded projects and managed offices focused on international development work.
Skills:
  • Strong customer service skills, friendly demeanor.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook applications.
Other: English fluency required
