GOAL is an international humanitarian organisation devoted to the alleviation of poverty among the poorest of the poor in society. As part of its strategic plan, GOAL Kenya wishes to recruit the following two positions:
1. Engineering Technician in Building and Construction
The Engineering Technician will take responsibility of all technical-related aspects of the Environmental Health Project.
Reporting to the Project Team Leader, the person will be based in Nairobi and will work in close collaboration with the project team to provide technical advice on the implementation of the designed activities as well as supporting GOAL’s partners.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing acceptable and appropriate designs for the bio centres and other latrine schemes produce drawings and evaluate the materials required for construction;
- Coordinating closely with relevant local administration and technical Government Departments and NGOs/CBOs;
- Undertaking site visits to check construction progress and ensure compliance with project design, proper construction standards, health and safety requirements and adherence to schedules.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or Higher National Diploma in Building and Construction or related diploma-level studies in combination with minimum 3 years qualifying experience);
- Minimum 2 years experience in project design and implementation;
2. Programme Officer
The Programme Officer will provide general programmatic and administrative support to the Programme Development Unit, with a focus on monitoring and evaluation and partnerships support.
Responsibilities will include:
- Participating in project design through active participation in proposal writing ensuring that organisational best practices and lessons learned are incorporated;
- Preparation of consolidated planning documents e.g. progress reports on the basis of inputs from field projects;
- Preparation of monthly reports, donor reports and periodic programme reports in collaboration with project managers
Requirements:
- A good understanding of M&E systems and processes;
- Experience in programme/project design and proposal development;
- Degree in Social Sciences or related field with a minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience in programmes.
