We are a reputable law firm based in Nairobi, Kenya, committed to providing top-tier legal services. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team:

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

  • Handle incoming bills and invoices, and prepare payments for vendors and suppliers. Track incoming payments from clients and manage collections.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and expense reports.
  • Reconcile bank statements with the general ledger and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and report variances.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time.

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of tax returns and ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Provide support during financial audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Monitor cash flow and provide updates to management.
  • Prepare and send out invoices to clients, and follow up on any overdue payments.
  • Assist in the analysis of financial data and preparation of financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Process expense reports and reimbursements.
  • Respond to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Record financial transactions and post debits (costs) and credits (income).
  • Assist in financial planning and strategy meetings.
  • Keep track of office supplies and place orders when necessary.
  • Develop and implement financial procedures and controls.
  • Stay updated with the latest financial laws and regulations in Kenya.
  • Enter financial data into the firm’s databases.
  • Conduct financial research as needed.
  • Assist in identifying and managing financial risks.
  • Communicate financial information to non-financial staff and clients.
  • Assist in making financial decisions by providing necessary financial insights and reports

Qualification, Experience And Knowledge

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and packages
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • At least 4 years of experience in a busy finance/accounts department in a law firm
