Job Specification
The duties and
responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
Providing policy briefs on market,
product competitiveness positioning and advise the agency how to improve
performance.
Attending forums and conferences, note
any issues that have an impact on production, and export strategies
Reviewing Trade agreements and
preparing briefs for policy interventions; v. Coordinating the collection and
collation of economic intelligence;
Liaising with Kenyan Missions abroad
and Foreign Missions domiciled in Kenya on economic intelligence and
opportunities
Representing and championing export
development issues in domestic and regional policy forums and meetings; viii.
Generating Project Proposals
Identifying and adopting mainstream
research tools to enhance efficiency and service delivery
Disseminating research findings to all
stakeholders;
Analyzing constraints to the
achievement of targets in Integrated National ExportDevelopment and Promotion
Strategy and disseminating findings in stakeholder’s forum;
Prioritizing research projects and
funding;
Ensuring implementation of research
findings;
Coordinating, monitoring and
evaluation of research projects;
Coordinating the preparation of budget
of the section in consultation with the Director;
Providing secretariat services to
specific sectorial panels and developing the sector position papers.
Ensuring development, review, proposal
/recommendation of policies and policy positions on nation brand and trade
matters;
Serve as the liaison on all sectoral
issues affecting trade;
Liaise with Government agencies and
key stakeholders on relevant trade policy issues to advocate for favorable
business environment;
advise on all research matters
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have at least: –
Master’s Degree in Economics,
Statistics, Planning, Commerce, Business Administration, International Trade,
Public Policy or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Bachelor’s degree in Economics,
Statistics, Planning, Commerce, Business Administration, International Trade,
Public Policy or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Post graduate diploma in a relevant
field;
Membership to a relevant professional
body;
Management course lasting not less
than four (4) weeks;
At least ten (10) years’ relevant work
experience in Research, International Trade, Marketing, Branding or a related
field, three (3) of which must be in management level;
Proficiency in Computer Applications
Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter
6 of the constitution

(Certificate of Good conduct)
Certificate from an approved Credit
Reference Bureau (CRB)
