Pharmaceutical Technologists (2 positions)
Duties &
Responsibilities
- Dispense
and update the ADT/IQ Care tool real-time.
- Advise
clients on the medication they are taking and provide adherence counseling.
- Advise
Care and Treatment staff on the drugs available for dispensing.
- Advise
management on availability of drugs for use in the Care Clinic and new
trends in pharmaceutical care.
- Provide
OJT on the Pharmaceutical EMR systems (ADT) in use to supported facilities.
- Together
with the Logistics Officer, ensure pharmaceuticals and other medical
consumables of the highest quality from reputable pharmaceutical companies
are procured.
- Manage
the Pharmacy store and supplies to other LVCT Health sites and supported
programs.
- Develop
and promote the use of a stock evaluation and monitoring system for all
the LVCT supported clinics.
- Ensure
the safety of all stock from the elements of wastage such as expiry/theft.
- Compile
Pharmacy reports and submit to KEMSA in a timely manner and MOH Sub County
Offices.
- In
support with the M & E Division, ensure timely data analysis and
submission of relevant reports that assess progress of the Key indicators.
- Assist
in the training of healthcare workers, community health workers and other
Health care providers when called upon to do so by the Care Manager in
collaboration with the LVCT training department.
- Providing
Information, education and communication to clients and their families in
the clinic through health talks, support groups or educational materials
like pamphlets.
- Participate
in the counseling of PLWHA’s on adherence to therapy (ARV and
Opportunistic infection prophylaxis and therapy), this will be done
together with the adherence counselor, nurse and the clinical officer.
- Support
in development of site specific SOPs for commodity management and
inventory management of TB, ARVs drugs and drugs for management of
opportunistic infections.
Qualifications
- Diploma
in Pharmacy.
- Must
be registered and holding a current valid practicing license with the
Board.
- Minimum
2 years working experience in a similar role preferably in a HIV/AIDS
program.
- Knowledge
of MoH systems and supply chain management.
- Proficiency
in computer applications and practical knowledge in using electronic
medical records.
