TB / CCC Nurse
Roles
and Responsibilities
· Support
patients and their families undergoing TB treatment.
· Contact
(screening) family and friends and other contacts who are identified as being
at risk following exposure to TB.
· Support
fellow healthcare professionals to achieve a prompt diagnosis and avoid delay
in any required treatment.
· Support
the education of health care staff and the general public about TB.
· Identify
and assist in TB outbreaks, working closely with the sub-county team.
· Work
hand in hand with the community health volunteers in in patient follow-up in
their own homes to check compliance and to monitor side effects of medication.
· Ensure ART uptake among HIV infected newly diagnosed patients, pregnant/lactating women.
· Ensure
follow-up and retention of HIV-infected patients, pregnant/lactating women and
HIV-exposed infants (HEI) by use of the case management model.
· Strengthen
linkages between PMTCT and HEI services and Comprehensive Care Clinics.
· Perform
TB intensified case finding for PLHIV on every clinical encounter.
· Ensure
that laboratory results are filed, documented, and always communicated to the
patients.
· Carry
out any other additional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
· Diploma
in KRCHN
· Training
in CCC / TB is desired
· Licenced
by the Nursing Council
· At
least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
