Job Summary

The primary duty of this position is to conduct eye exams to check for diseases and visual issues, and depending on the findings, to prescribe eyeglasses, and contact lenses, or to provide other pertinent recommendations while upholding high standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and oversee patient care
  • Take care of urgent situations

  • Patients should get education on disease prevention and early identification of risk factors (s)
  • Contribute to the creation of various planning parameters for handling referral cases received at Mediheal
  • Discuss pertinent issues with the appropriate clinical care team members to improve the integration of patient care activities.
  • To facilitate the integration of clinical research efforts, shared information, institutional quality improvement, and patient wellness initiatives, start conversations with consultants and coworkers.
  • Work with outreach clinics in the Nairobi area to increase the number and variety of cases seen.
  • Join journal clubs to discuss articles on patient care and cutting-edge medical research

Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed a B.Optom / Dip. In optometry
  • After training is complete and pending full specialist registration, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council will grant temporary registration.
  • ACLS, BLS, and ATLS certification
  • Show proficiency and dexterity with all medical equipment used in a hospital setting. Exhibit honesty, integrity, compassion, and respect for diversity. Adhere to ethical values.
