The Nakuru County Public Service Board invites applications from interested and qualified persons to fill various positions in the Department of Health Services [VACANCY LIST NO. 01 of 2019]

DRIVER III (AMBULANCE OPERATOR) – THIRTY (30) Vacancy No. 1/2019/08
Salary Scale: Ksh.14,610 – Ksh.16,250 p.m. Job Group D
Allowances as per the SRC circulars attached to the position


Terms of service: Three (3) years contract (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)
Qualifications
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsements for classes of vehicles an officer is required to drive;
  • Passed Suitability test for Driver Grade III;
  • Attended a First Aid certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week at John Ambulance, Kenya Red Cross Society or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
  • A valid certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;
  • Valid Emergency Medical Technician certificate;
  • Driving experience for more than three (3) years;
  • Two years’ experience as an ambulance operator shall be an added advantage;
  • Certificate in Emergency Vehicle operations; and
  • Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the Ministry of Public Works
 Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level shall involve;
  • Driving an ambulance as authorized,
  • Carrying out routine checks on the ambulance cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, ;
  • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the ambulance systems; maintenance of work tickets for ambulance assigned;
  • Ensuring security and safety for the ambulance on and off the road;
  • Ensuring safety of the passengers and patients therein;
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the ambulance.
  • Maintaining the ambulance and assigned equipment in the most efficient operating condition
  • Ensuring timely and safe patient rescue and evacuation
  • Assist doctors or paramedics in patient care during rescue and evacuation
  • Proper incident command while on rescue mission
  • Ensure ambulance is in proper mechanical condition and is well stocked with commodities by performing daily unit checklist before and after every shift;
  • Perform any other duties within the scope of this position.

MEDICAL SPECIALIST – FAMILY HEALTH ONE (1) Vacancy No. 1/2019/07
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.98,500 – Ksh.132,000 p.m. JOB GROUP ‘Q’
Allowances as per the SRC circulars attached to the position
Terms of service: Three (3) years contract (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)
Qualifications;
  • Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery of (M.B; Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
  • Masters degree and specialization in Family Medicine.
  • Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
  • Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution, shall be an added advantage.
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrate professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results
Responsibilities
  • Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients,
  • Carrying out specialized clinical care,
  • Providing psycho-social intervention,
  • Providing clinical services to patients,
  • Training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities,
  • Carrying out forensic and medico-legal services,

  • Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery of (M.B; Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by medical practitioners and dentist board.
  • Masters degree in Internal Medicine – Nephrology
  • Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
  • Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.47,780 – Ksh.63,900 p.m. Job Group ‘M’

Terms of service: Three (3) years contract (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS)degree or other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by medical practitioners and Dentist Board
  • Successfully completed one (1) Year internship from a recognized institution
  • Certificate of registration by the Medical practitioners and Dentist Board practitioners. and
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Responsibilities
An officer in this level will work under supervision of a senior and experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;
  • Providing dental care including diagnosing common oral conditions,
  • Treating, prescribing and referring carrying out minor oral and maxillofacial surgery
  • Prosthetics, and conservative dentistry,
  • Facilitating admission, diseases investigation of patients,
  • Report writing and assisting in theatre activities,
  • Collecting information on dental health information system,
  • Organizing discharge summaries and follow up of patients; and
  • Acting as the first on call on duty

PHARMACIST – TWO (2) POSITIONS Vacancy No. 1/2019/02
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.47,780 – Ksh.63,900 p.m. Job Group ‘M’
Terms of service: Three (3) years contract (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)
Allowances as per the SRC circulars attached to the position
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (B Pharm.) from an institution recognized Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Successfully completed one (1) Year Internship from a recognized institution
  • Registration license from Pharmacy and Poisons Board; and
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
 Responsibilities
An officer in this level will work under supervision of a senior Pharmacist. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;
  • Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contraindications, drug interactions, appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing patients and convenience,
  • Preparing and dispensing medicine according to Good dispensing practices and counseling patients on use of medicine
  • Making extemporaneous preparations
  • Participating in ward rounds
  • Identifying medicinal gaps and challenges
  • Maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all activities undertaken
  • Recommending over the counter(OTC) medicines to patients/clients with simple medical conditions and making necessary referrals; and
  • Making entries into the relevant inventory management records and registers.

MEDICAL OFFICER – EIGHT (8) POSITIONS – Vacancy No. 1/2019/01
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.47,780 – Ksh.63,900 p.m. (Job Group ‘M’)

Terms of service: Three (3) years contract (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of (M .B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical practitioners and Dentist Board.
  • Successfully completed one (1) Year Internship from a recognized institution.
  • Registration license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board; and
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Responsibilities
An officer in this level will work under supervision of a senior and experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;
  • Diagnosing, caring and treating diseases, performing medical and surgical procedures
  • Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters
  • Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment
  • Providing health education,
  • Maintaining medical records, health information and data
  • Counseling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement, teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical officer interns; and
  • Preparing requisite documents for registration.
