The Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA) is a member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
KGGA is one of the largest youth Associations in Kenya.
KGGA operates through a value-based program and has a national membership of girls and young women representing every race, ethnicity, culture, class and religion in Kenya.
Role Dimensions
The County Commissioner is responsible for the management and development of Girl Guiding in her County by establishing, leading and maintaining a team to ensure high quality Guiding within her County.
The County Commissioner represents KGGA within the County particularly with the voluntary and youth sectors and is responsible for the administration of Guiding in the County and for ensuring that decisions are made in accordance to the policies and strategic priorities of the Association.
As part of the County she has a strategic role in the development of Girl Guiding in all areas.
Key Tasks
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all KGGA policies.
Developing Guiding within the County to meet its needs.
Keeping confidential all sensitive information relating to KGGA including that which relates to its members.
Liaising with external bodies and the wider community.
Promote local, national and international opportunities available within Guiding as well as externally, and encourage young members to take part.
Promote opportunities for training, activities and fundraising.
Maintain good communications with other Commissioners in your County.
Ensure that all administrative resources for the County are utilized effectively and online databases are kept up to date.
Ensure financial matters are monitored and policies adhered to.
Initiate and develop external partnerships, e.g. with local groups, Trefoil Guild and local authority etc., and Communicate KGGA’s key messages within the County.
In addition, it is important for the County Commissioner to: –
Have knowledge of Girl Guiding.
Be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally as well as email.
Be able to motivate others.
Take quick and appropriate decisions when necessary
Be approachable, enjoy working with adults and value people.
