them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.
In Kenya, the organisation runs five Children’s Villages in
Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Meru and Kisumu. SOS Children’s Villages Kenya also
runs education and health institutions and works with local communities through
Families Strengthening Programs.
We seek to recruit a suitably qualified person for the position
of a Community Development
Worker for SOS CV KE Alternative Care project based at Eldoret
Location.
Key Functions of the
Job
Community Development Worker will undertake various duties which
include and are not limited to the following:-
·
Implement alternative care activities and timely reports to
donors
·
Facilitate the assessment of child, family and community
structures
·
Conduct individual & group assessments and selection of
beneficiaries into the program.
·
Implementation of economic empowerment program activities.
·
Facilitate holistic development of children in the target group.
·
Facilitate and ensure the effectiveness of all the Community
Management Committee (CMC) support groups, Community Volunteers and Community
Representatives.
·
Establish and sustain new and existing links and develop
networks with NGOs, CBOs, donors, government of Kenya departments and the
community.
·
Support monitoring & evaluation of the programme.
·
Lead in documentation foe evidence based
·
Support co-workers of community-based partner organisations in
their work with families
Required
Qualifications / Abilities
·
Degree in Community Development, Social Work or Sociology
·
Training in counseling.
·
Must be computer literate.
·
At least 2 years’ experience in community development or social
services.
·
A good understanding of issues facing orphans & vulnerable
children.
·
In-depth knowledge of psychosocial issues in children and adolescence
o Well developed communication, report writing and counseling skills
·
Ability to ride a motor-bike will be an added advantage

qualified person for the position of a Driver for SOS CV KE Family
Strengthening program based in Busia.
Key Functions of the Job
Driver will undertake various duties which include and are not
limited to the following:-
·
Carries out the driving requirements of the FSP as directed by
the Program Coordinator
·
Delivery and collection of documents and other items to/from
various stakeholders
·
Identify vehicle problems and malfunctions, including,
performing routine and non-routine check-up and maintenance.
·
Maintain and ensure assigned vehicle(s) are always in a neat,
clean and good mechanical condition.
·
Keep an accurate systematic log of journeys made, distances
covered and odometer readings in respect of vehicle service and fuel refills
·
Monitor and report expiration and renewal dates of licenses,
insurance covers, road rescue registration and other applicable services, to
ensure timely renewal.
·
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications /
Abilities
·
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
·
Valid Driver’s License and Certificate of Good Conduct.
·
At least 3 years’ experience providing executive driving
services. Prior working experience with an NGO will be an added advantage
·
Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and traffic patterns is
desired.
·
Prior training in defensive driving principles is desired

qualified person to become Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant for
SOS CV Kenya Busia.
We seek to recruit a suitably qualified person for the position
of a Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant for SOS CV KE Family Strengthening
program based in Busia.
Key Functions of the Job
The M & E Assistant will undertake various duties which
include but not limited to the following:-

Develop and regularly review the project monitoring and
evaluation plan/s
·
Monitor the field activities based on the project implementation
plan through approved organizational monitoring and evaluation tools.
·
Assist in developing operational monitoring tools (checklist,
questionnaires, databases, interview and survey forms, etc.)
·
Assist to developing guidelines, manuals, procedures, concept
papers on M&E issues upon request of the management team Monthly data
collection, data entry & data analysis based on project requirements while
ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
·
Participate in the program’s quality, implementation,
particularly through identifying weaknesses and strengths in SOS CV Kenya
programs and report to the management team.
·
Participate in the evaluation of the project’s results and
achievements.
·
Actively collaborate with Data Entry Officers and assist to
updating regularly the database according to the project requirements
·
Participate in project implementation & coordination meetings.
·
Provide inputs to project reports and publications upon request
of the management team. Prepare weekly/monthly schedule of monitoring and
evaluation related activities.
·
Provide M&E verbal and written analyzed reports on a regular
basis to the management team to inform programming
·
Support short-term M&E evaluators and experts as required.
Required Qualifications /
Abilities
·
Bachelors Degree/ in Project Planning & Management
/Monitoring & Evaluation/Development Studies or related discipline.
·
Must have at least 2 years’ experience in Monitoring and
Evaluation and Data Base Management.
·
At least 2 years of working experience in a similar position
with local or International NGO
·
Be able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
·
Experience of collecting and analyzing data at community level
We seek to recuit a Programme
Accountant based at SOS CV KE Eldoret.
Key Functions of the Job
The Programme Accountant will undertake various duties which
include and are not limited to the following:-
·
Prepares cheques, reviews payment vouchers and checks petty cash
payments.
·
Ensures that all invoices are paid promptly to protect the
reputation of SOS Children’s Villages Programme.
·
Prepares Bank and Cash Registers and bank reconciliation
statements. Submits registers, together with all supporting receipts and
vouchers to the Programme Director.
·
Supports the replenishing of the programmes petty cash float and
ensures this is responsibly and effectively used at all times.
·
Banks all income received and effect all cash withdrawals.
·
Administers the programme payroll in a timely manner. Ensures
correct payment of income tax and other statutory deductions before 5th of the
following month.
·
Submits a projected income and expense form and requests regular
transfers to ensure sufficient running cost funds are received for the
programme through the Programme Director.
·
Timely capturing data into the financial management system.
·
Prepares and supports internal and external financial audits.
·
Timely preparation and presentation of all financial reports to
the Programme Director for submission.
·
Assists the Programme Director in the preparation of the annual
budget of the Programme.
·
Monitors expenditures, ensuring the programme is run as
economically as possible, in accordance with the provisions of the annual
budget. Reports any irregularities to the Programme Director.
·
Safely stores and secures all cash, cheque books and financial records
at all times.
·
Disseminate and checks to ensure that any financial policies, as
established by SOS-Kinderdorf International or the National Association, are
implemented and adhered to.
·
At all times ensures that personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS
CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers is handled
confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-Kinderdorf International
data protection laws.
·
Supervise and appraise locational accountants and Cashiers
Required Qualifications /
Abilities
·
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration(
Finance or Accounting option)
·
At least CPA (II) with 3 years working experience in a busy
accounting environment, 2 of which should be in an NGO setup.
·
Ability to set up and maintain financial systems and develop
internal control procedures.
·
Hands on experience in computerized accounting applications /
software is a must.
·
Be conversant with Kenyan taxation laws, legal & statutory
requirements and ability to prepare income tax returns.
·
Experience working with Navision system will be an added
advantage
