Reporting
to the Senior Librarian the officer is required to provide library services to
the College through the acquisition, documentation, serialization and
dissemination of information and materials in order to support the teaching,
learning and research programmes of the College.
Responsibilities
·
Cataloguing newly acquired library
material by providing multiple access points to facilitate retrieval;
·
Assisting in the classification of
newly acquired information material by assigning class number for purposes of
shelving and retrieval;
·
Undertaking abstracting by preparing
summaries of articles, reports and other publication to facilitate
understanding;
·
Indexing journal articles by
assigning descriptors to facilitate easy retrieval.
·
Acquisition new information material
by identifying, selecting, ordering processing, organising in line with user
needs to meet the current information gaps;
·
Providing information to aid in
preparation of library reports and works programmes by listing activities
undertaken by the library to provide information for decision making by the
management;
·
Conduct current awareness services by
display of and/or sending to inform users of new acquisitions.
·
Updating electronic database by
adding new records into the systems to ensure availability, integrity and
security of data and information;
·
Carrying out user profiling to
facilitate provision of selective dissemination of information (SDI) that will
meet the needs of various users;
·
Carrying out annual inventory of
library resources by physically ascertaining their availability and condition
to identify existing gaps; and
·
Conducting information literacy by
inducting new members on use of library resources to enable them be independent
users.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s Degree in Library Studies
or Information Science or a related and equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
·
Certificate in Computer application
skills;

Driver

Reporting
to the Senior Driver, the officer is responsible for transporting students and
staff to various destinations in a clean and safe environment to facilitate
activities within and outside the College.
Responsibilities
·
carrying out routine checks on the
vehicle’s cooling and oil systems, electrical system, tyre pressure, brakes;
·
detecting and reporting
malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
·
maintenance of work tickets for the
assigned vehicles;
·
driving the vehicle as authorized;
·
security and safety for the vehicle
on and off the road;
·
safety of the passengers and/or goods
therein; and
·
Maintaining cleanliness of the
vehicle.
Qualifications
·
a minimum mean grade D (plain) in
KCSE or its equivalent;
·
a valid driving license free from any
endorsements and valid for all the classes of vehicles, which the candidate is
required to drive;
·
knowledge of the traffic act and
related regulations;
·
passed the Suitability Test for
Drivers Grade III from the Ministry of Public Works;
·
at least two (2) years previous
satisfactory driving experience after obtaining the driving license;
·
a valid one (1) week first Aid
Certificate from Kenya Red Cross, Kenya College of Highway and Building
Technology or St. John’s Ambulance;
·
certificate in Computer application;
·
Certificate of good conduct and EACC.
