Accountant

Centre for Health Solutions – Kenya (CHS), in partnership with the County Government of Nyeri and Nyandarua, is seeking to employ the services of motivated and proactive individuals to fill the following vacancy in the Ministry of Health (MoH)/CHS Tegemeza Plus Project, which supports and strengthens HIV/AIDS services in Nyeri and Nyandarua Counties.
Department: Finance
Location: Nyeri and Nyandarua County

The Accountant will be responsible for the sound management of the donor funds in conformity with the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAPs), CHS policies and applicable County Financial and donor rules and regulations. The incumbent will be required to support health facilities on all accounting aspects while working closely with the CHMT, CHS grants and program teams in carrying out financial management, ensuring compliance, budget monitoring, site monitoring, assets management and preparation of timely and quality financial reports on regular basis.

Responsibilities:

·         Process payments for project-related expenses both at the health facility and at the CHMT level.
·         Monitor expenditure and performance indicators of the respective sub-agreement against the approved activities and budget
·         Generate timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports as required by CHS.
·         Conduct monthly financial site visits in the CHS supported health facilities in order to monitor performance, assess capacity gaps, address/help solve them and to capacity build the facilities.
·         Participate in the budgeting process of the sub-agreement, monitor expenditure, safeguard cash balances and ensure reasonable burn rates within the approved budgets.
·         Participate in both programmatic and financial progress review meetings between CHS and the respective County Department of health
·         Maintain up to date assets log of all assets provided by CHS.
·         Ensure up to date filing and retention of the sub-agreement financial records and ensure that they are adequately backed up.
·         Ensure the sub-agreement comply with the donor requirements/ GOK policies and GAAPs
·         Develop and implement monthly work plans and determine activities and targets for the period
·         Implementation of recommendations given by the supervisors and timely address of the financial reports review issues
·         Participate and support in the annual audit of sub-agreement as applicable.

Qualifications

PMTCT Officer

CHS is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of PMTCT Officer – 05/CHS/PMTCT/2018 in Siaya.
Overall Job Function
Reporting to the Senior Program Officer (SPO) and working closely with the PMTCT Technical Advisor, this role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning and implementation of PMTCT activities within CHS-supported facilities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

Responsibilities

Providing day-to-day technical support and supervision of the PMTCT program in CHS-supported facilities as per the national PMTCT guidelines
·         Assisting with training of health care workers using the national PMTCT curriculum and participating in the organization of facility-level CMEs and capacity building activities
·         Strengthening referrals and linkages between PMTCT activities and the CCC
·         Overseeing EID care and follow-up of HEI and ensuring Mother and HEI are followed up together longitudinally

Pharmaceutical Technologist

Position: Pharmaceutical Technologist (2 positions)

The Pharmaceutical Technologist is responsible for the management of the pharmacy and related equipment, making sure that all required drugs are available and issued in the correct doses/courses to the patients.

Responsibilities:

·         Ensure complete documentation of all pharmacy records and reporting tools
·         Verify prescriptions for accuracy and suitability to ensure rational dispensation and prescribing
·         Complete the expiry chart accurately and in a timely manner for proper monitoring of drugs

Position: Registered Clinical Officer (10 positions)
Location: Nyandarua County
Overall Function:
The Clinical Officer is responsible for providing HIV/TB and related treatment services at supported sites as a member of the clinical team. The Clinical Officer will ensure that optimal standard of care is achieved in line with National guidelines, client satisfaction and good clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities:

·         Management and coordination of HIV/TB Clinic activities
·         Assist and work together with other clinic team members, in support of all the CCC activities
·         Ensure proper patient management of HIV/TB is done in line with National guidelines
·         Provide adherence counselling and implementation of clinical aspects of Positive Health Dignity and Prevention program (PHDP) to clients attending the clinic

Overall Function:
The Nurse is responsible for providing HIV/TB and related treatment service at supported sites as a member of the clinical team. The nurse will also play an instrumental role in ensuring infection prevention practices are maintained and nursing services are optimal.

Responsibilities:

·         Ensure proper patient management is done in line with National HIV management guidelines
·         Ensure the minimum package of HIV/TB care is implemented in line with National guidelines
·         Carry out initial assessment and triage of all patients attending the HIV clinic and instituting a fast track system in line with the standard operating procedure
·         Ensures the maintenance of patient confidentiality.

Reporting administratively to the Finance Manager and functionally to the Finance Department, this role will ensure proper recording of project expenditures in close cooperation with the Finance Manager.

Responsibilities

·         Responsible for making payments via MPESA platform to field staff, workshop participants and movement of funds in Utility and M-Pesa platform
·         Preparing payment requisitions (invoicing in Navision system) and relevant documents and processing for payment

Responsibilities

·         Support the coordination of psychosocial support activities targeting adults, adolescents, paediatrics, PMTCT mothers and discordant couples.
·         To support planning, implementation and evaluation of defaulter identification and tracking systems at the respective health facilities in the respective health facilities using the already approved tools.

Position: Health Records and Information Officer (HRIO) – 21 positions
Location: Nyeri County
Overall Function:
The HRIO is responsible for providing support to the health facilities in medical documentation, data management, data analysis and reporting

Responsibilities

Documentation and reporting
·         Ensure availability of necessary data collection and reporting tools at the facility. This will include patient cards/files, registers, reporting tools, databases
·         Maintain data security and confidentiality
·         Guide the facility staff on effective data management especially on correct and complete documentation
·         Ensure all required data summaries and facility reports are complete, accurate and timely
·         Reporting for the facilities through DHIS
·         Participate in data collection for program monitoring and research
 Data quality audits
·         Review data prior to submission to DHRIO/ uploading into DHIS

Requirements

Medical Laboratory Technologists
Centre for Health Solutions – Kenya (CHS), in partnership with the County Government of Nyeri, is seeking to employ the services of motivated and proactive individuals to fill the following vacancy in the Ministry of Health (MoH)/CHS Tegemeza Plus Project, which supports and strengthens HIV/AIDS services in Nyeri County.
Position: Medical Laboratory Technologists (4 positions)
Location: Nyeri County
Overall Function:
The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for coordinating laboratory activities required for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services

Responsibilities:

·         Performs laboratory activities required for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs, including baseline and follow up laboratory investigations are carried out.
·         Conduct laboratory testing procedures as per the required SOPs
·         Correlating clinical information and/or previous lab results and report discrepancies to supervisors and other appropriate personnel.
·         Collecting and directing the collection of specimens with rigid attention to proper patient identification, priority status and hospital and laboratory and laboratory safety and infection control policies for clinical testing
·         Interprets test results and documents appropriately
·         Writing and updating laboratory procedures as required.
·         Set up, clean and maintain laboratory equipment, including carrying out daily temperature checks
·         Develop, standardize, evaluate, and modify procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis of specimens and in medical laboratory experiments.
·         Preserves and protects patient and client confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation.
·         Follows protocol for running and documenting control values
·         Collects, evaluates, and reports quality management data in order to monitor and improve laboratory performance.
·         Do reagent quantification, forecasting and timely reporting
·         Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations including infection control policies and protocols.
·         Correctly disposes of bio-hazardous materials, labelling and handling of all materials.
·         Provide technical information about test results to care manager, clinical officers and patients.
·         Perform any other duties as directed by the supervisor

Requirements

For appointment to the post of Laboratory Technologist, a candidate must;
·         Have a diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
·         Valid License from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
·         At least 2 years working experience in a laboratory
·         Knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety practices
·         Experience working with MOH/County systems and personnel, donor funded projects is an added advantage
·         Good report writing and analytical skills

Registered Clinical Officer

Position: Registered Clinical Officer (1 position)
Location: Nyeri County
Overall Function:
The Clinical Officer is responsible for providing HIV/TB and related treatment service at supported sites as a member of the clinical team. The Clinical Officer will ensure that optimal standard of care is achieved in line with National guidelines, client satisfaction and good clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities:

·         Management and coordination of HIV/TB Clinic activities
·         Assist and work together with other Clinic team members in support of all the CCC activities.
·         Ensure proper patient management of HIV/TB is done in line with National guidelines
·         Provide adherence counselling and implementation of clinical aspects of Positive Health Dignity and Prevention program (PHDP) to clients attending the clinic
·         Ensuring that the optimal standard of care is achieved by establishing and maintaining the use of nationally approved clinical guidelines and protocols and with the help of the care manager, updating ones’ knowledge of HIV/AIDs management using evidence-based practice
·         Counsel clients on compliance to treatment
·         Provide information, education and communication to clients and their families in the clinic through support groups, health talks and educational materials
·         Ensures the maintenance of patient confidentiality.
·         Ensure integration of HIV services in OPD, MCH, inpatient and other outpatient clinics.
·         Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) to discuss complicated cases.
·         Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to improve service delivery and patient-level outcomes
·         Participation and contribution to the capacity building of clinical and other staff through CMEs, mentorship, sensitization and updates
·         Mentor and supervise other health care professionals to assist in the provision of HIV care.
·         Ensure complete documentation in various HIV care related tools as recommended
·         Provide regular feedback to care staff/ facility management on work-related concerns
·         Conduct any other duty as may be prescribed by the supervisor

Qualifications

For appointment to the post of Clinical Officer, a candidate must;
·         Have a Basic Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from Kenya Medical Training College or any recognizes institution
·         Have a valid License from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
·         At least 2 years’ work experience in busy Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) or MCH
·         Experience working with MOH/County systems and personnel will be an added advantage
·         Experience working in PEPFAR funded projects is an added advantage
·         Should be self-motivated
·         Should have good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
·         Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
