Business Analyst

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to facilitate the trading of financial products through the provision of a trading platform for listed securities. In line with this mandate, the NSE is seeking to recruit a highly competent individual to fill the position of Business Analyst
Overall Purpose
The Business analyst’s primary objective will be to conduct research to enable the NSE make informed decisions and identify opportunities for successful implementation of the Strategy.

Responsibilities  

·         Conducting required research, market and data analysis, competitive benchmarking, and data gathering relevant to NSE and clients;
·         Compile and present relevant data for use by the NSE;
·         Ensuring projects/programs are delivered to specifications and within the set timelines;
·         Provide input to project teams on how to approach a specific engagement and solve challenges during delivery;
·         Undertaking project/program reviews and, consultatively, proposing solutions to problems;
·         Supporting the monitoring of divisional tactical plans; and
·         Preparing economic briefs and departmental presentations.

Qualifications

·         Relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
·         Possession of a post graduate diploma or professional qualifications such as CPA, CFA, actuarial, CAIA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
·         Minimum 2 years’ work experience.
·         Computer literate.
·         High level of interest in and knowledge of the capital markets.

Communications Officer
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to facilitate the trading of financial products through the provision of a trading platform for listed securities. In line with this mandate, the NSE is seeking to recruit a highly competent individual to fill the position of Communications Officer. For this position, the NSE is seeking to recruit on a fixed term contract of twelve (12) months
Overall Purpose 
Handles public relations related issues in the NSE and ensures that all the parties involved in the business are kept informed and there is a positive relationship between the company and its customers

Responsibilities  

·         Facilitate the development and execution of communication strategies for the NSE marketing campaigns, public relations, sponsorships and events;
·         Administer and update the NSE website; including the production of the NSE e-newsletter;
·         Update all the digital platforms of the NSE including all social media assets and the NSE website;
·         Event Management through organizing venues, equipment and services for NSE functions and events while enhancing NSE Brand visibility through various branding opportunities;
·         Maintain close contacts with media including updating the media database, media library and carrying out the media monitoring function; in addition to being the focal point in the execution of media plans;
·         Develop communications materials such as media advisories, press releases, speeches; and organizes interviews in addition to briefing the creative and PR agencies to develop executions of marketing materials for the NSE Brand;
·         Identify and pursue unique media buying opportunities and added-value via sponsorships and media partnerships;
·         Offer communications and marketing support to NSE departments;
·         Manage media vendor contracts and exercise diligence in tracking expenses to meet expense/ budget goals;
·         Provide investment and related information and assistance to clients in person, via telephone, social media and electronic mail;
·         Maintain and update client databases; and
·         Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Corporate Finance Analyst

In line with this mandate, the NSE is seeking to recruit a highly competent individual to fill the position of Corporate Finance Analyst
Overall Purpose
The Corporate Finance Analyst will be responsible for actively seeking new listings. He/ she will market the value add of NSE products, helping the Exchange to take advantage of new growth opportunities. Additionally, he/ she will be actively involved in maintaining relationships with strategic partners such as sponsors, institutional investors and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities  

·         Participate in growing the existing market products;
·         Participate in creation of new products and markets;
·         Participate in educating, marketing and promoting new and existing products;
·         Foster a broad understanding of technologies relevant to NSE business strategies;
·         Strengthen the relationships between markets, products/services and their architecture;
·         Plan, design, and conduct collaborative research and surveys on the capital markets industry performance, characteristics and trends, business practices and risks to address the challenges of an emerging securities industry;
·         Define business opportunities and research alternate solutions, including options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities;
·         Build networks by attending relevant market forums to network with existing clients get contacts for new potential clients; get insights into current global standards and policies to increase listings at the NSE;
·         Communicate and build strong relationships with market participants in order to create new listings, products and improve existing products;
·         Provide relationship management to Investment Banks or Advisors;
·         Shall act as the Departmental Risk Champion, working with the Risk Manager to reduce NSE’s exposure to business risks;

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in a business related or any other relevant field.
·         Professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, ACA or ACMA and membership to a relevant professional body.
·         Minimum four (4) years’ experience in capital markets /Banking/Big 4 Accounting firm environments and/or have at least three (3) years’ experience in significant corporate finance advisory roles, which may include regulating issues relating to corporate finance.
·         Working knowledge of IT landscape of Broker Dealers, Mutual funds, Exchanges, Market feed providers etc.
·         Working knowledge of the Regulatory Framework of the Capital Markets in Kenya and other jurisdictions.
·         Must demonstrate strategic thinking and insight.

Information Security Manager
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to facilitate the trading of financial products through the provision of a trading platform for listed securities. In line with this mandate, the NSE is seeking to recruit a highly competent individual to fill the position of Information Security Manager
Overall Purpose 
The role is responsible for planning, development and delivery of a comprehensive information security and privacy program for the NSE.
This role also serves as a Technical Advisor to the NSE and is process owner on all areas of information systems security.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
·         Work with key IT roles, data custodians and relevant stakeholders in the development/ enhancement of an InfoSec and infrastructure assurance policy;
·         Champion development, enforcement and communication of InfoSec policies, standards and procedures;

·         Lead the design and implementation of a layered information security architecture covering perimeter to end point;
·         Proactively ensuring that the InfoSec architectures at all stages of their life cycle comply with policy and regulatory requirements, and that risks due to disruption of operations, unauthorized modification of data, destruction of computer resources and compromise or loss of information resources are minimized;
·         Coordinate the development and delivery of an education and training program on InfoSec and privacy matters for employees and other authorised users so as to ensure compliance;
·         Develop and implement an Incident Reporting and Response system to address any security breaches, respond to policy violations or complaints from external parties;
·         Lead the implementation and testing of NSE’s recovery and business continuity plan;
·         Maintain ongoing knowledge of methodologies and implements best practices in InfoSec management;
·         Recommends and champions courses of action and policies that allow NSE to securely meet its organizational goals;
·         Develop and implement an ongoing risk assessment program targeting information security and privacy matters, including regular assessment and reporting on risk and information security posture;
·         Lead the preparation of RFPs, bid proposals and other documentation related to acquisition of information security infrastructure as well as negotiations with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure relevant products and services;
·         Conduct research, recommend and enforce InfoSec best practice standards in line with globally accepted information security frameworks; and
·         Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information technology or equivalent;
·         Minimum four (4) years’ experience in information security, information technology or related field;
·         Professional training/certifications in information security;
·         Knowledge on the secure design and set up of networks;
·         Knowledge of security of relational Databases;
·         Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and to ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters;

Systems Administrator 
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to facilitate the trading of financial products through the provision of a trading platform for listed securities. In line with this mandate, the NSE is seeking to recruit a highly competent individual to fill the position of Systems Administrator
Overall Purpose
This role works with the Business Systems Manager and is responsible for managing the technical and functional operations, maintenance and support of NSEs internal and external business systems through installing, configuring, operating and provisioning business applications in line with business requirements.
The role also supports service delivery function with regard to incident resolution and change management services.

Responsibilities  

·         Participate in the examination of user requirements and determination or development of appropriate solutions to meet those requirements.
·         Operate and provision of the Company’s business application systems with a view to ensure optimal availability and security in line with information security targets.
·         Develop and maintain system administration documentation, test procedures and outcomes and knowledge base articles to a level that enables system and client service continuity;
·         Review, test and deploy system changes in line with change management policy.
·         Ensure optimal systems availability in line with set targets and through systems trouble shooting and continuous monitoring.
·         Ensure system and database configurations and operational procedures for associated services are comprehensively and accurately documented.
·         Execute systems start up, monitoring, shut down and backups.
·         Responding to queries, Investigating root cause, resolving system incidents as well as deploying corrective and preventive measures; preparing incident reports.
·         Administration of relevant system databases.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information technology or equivalent qualifications.

Surveillance Officer
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to facilitate the trading of financial products through the provision of a trading platform for listed securities. In line with this mandate, the NSE is seeking to recruit a highly competent individual to fill the position of Officer, Surveillance
Overall Purpose
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting market surveillance on a broad range of listed securities with a view to maintain a fair, efficient and transparent market.

Responsibilities  

·         Carry out real time surveillance of listed securities and provide an early warning alert on market irregularity detected;
·         Examine transactions showing irregular movements based on day-to-day surveillance of market movements and information obtained from various sources including public and undisclosed information affecting a listed security;
·         Monitor trading, order matching and ensure that stockbrokers/ ATS operators comply with the NSE Trading Rules;
·         Monitor and review print and electronic media reports and other relevant sources of information to identify securities requiring detailed analysis and investigation;
·         Identify exceptions to usual patterns of dealing and recommend further investigations against market participants involved in dubious deals in violation of NSE and CMA laws, rules and regulations;
·         Identify people and early warning signs of unlawful conduct to prevent infractions and protect investors;
·         Assist the Surveillance Manager in the preparation of the daily surveillance report;
·         Monitor and review both manual and electronic newspaper reports, magazines, journals bulletin boards and other relevant information sources to obtain a list of stocks that have drawn major attention and concern to shareholders for detailed analysis and investigation;
·         Undertake financial analysis of financial statements submitted to the Exchange by listed companies and trading participants; and
·         Assist in monitoring, scrutinize and record all trading activities and also match information about people and events, keep track of the identity of key active participants and other insiders or persons with access to non-public information; look for early warning signs of unlawful conduct to prevent infractions and protect investors thus avoiding the need to prosecute wrongdoers after the fact.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Management, Business Studies, Economics or equivalent from a relevant field.
·         Minimum two (2) years relevant work experience in the capital markets.
·         Possession of professional qualifications such as CPA, CISI, CFA or FA will be an added advantage.

Information Technology Internship
Overall Purpose
The selected candidate will be assisting the Information Technology department in various tasks as outlined below.

Responsibilities

·         Provide computer support via telephone, email and face-to-face contact
·         Assist in performing hardware and software installation procedures
·         Able to diagnose hardware and software issues when reported
·         Assist in periodic maintenance of hardware and software
·         Take user support requests and take measures to fulfil requests
·         Assist in hardware and software inventory management
·         Provide technical support to workshops and meetings onsite and off-site including preparation, installation and operation of equipment.
·         Troubleshoot equipment such as printers and scanners and other peripherals
·         Other duties as assigned.
