Bookshop Clerks

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Ensuring documentation of multimedia Accounting records;
·         Selling of multimedia materials;
·         Assisting in maintenance of bookshop ledgers;
·         Managing Inventory as per FIFO policy of Inventory management;
·         Packaging of purchased materials
·         Dispatching of bookshop materials to clients within and outside Nairobi;
·         Arranging and sorting of syllabuses and other materials in multimedia bookshop;
·         Taking orders from customers, physically, on phone and through email;
·         Taking part in end of financial year stock taking;
·         Requesting and receiving bookshop materials from the main store; and
·         Marketing bookshop materials to clients.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment a candidate must have:
·         KCSE grade C plain;
·         CPA II;
·         Relevant working experience for at least one (1) year.
·         Proficient in computer use and applications; and
·         Initiative, team player and highly motivated.


Deputy Chief Planning Officer

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Coordinate implementation of the Institutes and departmental work plans;
·         Monitor the implementation of the Institute’s strategic plan and service charter; and
·         Review the Institute’s Policies, Strategies, Projects and Programmes.
Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an applicant must have:
·         A Master’s Degree in Economics or related field from a recognized Institution with a working experience of at least three (3) years. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics of at least five (5) years will be considered;
·         Have demonstrated professional competence in planning, or a related area and a team player;
·         Proficient in computer use and application; and
·         Initiative, team player and highly motivated.

Chief Curriculum Development Officer (Electrical)

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Supervise the development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials;
·         Initiate and participate in curriculum orientation activities and;
·         Coordinate activities of subject and course panels.
Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an applicant must have:
(i) B. Ed Technology ( Electrical and Electronic engineering option);
(ii) Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in curriculum studies or related field and relevant working experience of at least three (3) years at a supervisory level;
(iii) Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development or related areas ;
(iv) Proficient in computer use and application;
(v) Initiative, team player and highly motivated.

ICT Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Monitor the Institute’s backup, virus protection and security procedure, note risks to ICT systems and suggest precautions
·         Back up files and archiving materials where appropriate and ensuring that copyright and data protection laws are upheld
·         Manage and control key web portals of the Institute:- KICD website, Elimika and Kenya Education Cloud and ensure their integrity, accuracy and security backup is up to date;
·         Respond to ICT support requests in a timely fashion to ensure minimum disruption to staff at all times;
·         Install, configure and maintain the acceptable standards for server installations and applications;
·         Support, maintain and monitor all networked, software and communication servers in the KICD intranet; and
·         Ensure uptime of the google corporate E-mail server and Internet request for the staff and other stakeholders
Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an applicant must have:
·         Diploma in Information technology/computer science or higher with at least 2 years’ experience directly related work experience
·         Hands on professional experience with Enterprise class firewalls (Huawei firewalls, cyber roam firewalls, CISCO ASA), routers and network switchers;
·         Working knowledge of network security, intrusion detection systems, authentications mechanisms, encryption technologies, and networking protocols including SMPT,HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, AND SNMP; and
·         Professional certification in either vendor specific or industry standards will be an added advantage.

Chief Curriculum Development Officer (Computer Studies or ICT)

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Undertake the development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials;
·         Initiate and participate in orientation;
·         Coordinate activities of subject and course panels; and
·         Coordinate development and evaluation of curriculum support materials.
Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an applicant must have:
(i) Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in curriculum studies or related field and relevant working experience of at least three (3) years at a supervisory level.
(ii) Have demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development or related areas and a team player.

Chief Studio Technical Operator
KICD 11
Two (2) Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
1. Overall supervision of operations and utilization of facilities in Radio or television studios, electronic field production operations, in liaison with the heads of technical units and heads of other sections to ensure smooth operations of Studios, Outside Broadcasting vans and Electronic News;

2. Gathering and Electronic Field Production;
3. Work planning;
4. Allocation of duties;
5. Writing of yearly, quarterly and monthly reports; and
6. Operations of the staff, their safety and their training requirements.

(i) Diploma in Mass Communication/Multimedia;
(ii) Served as a Deputy Chief Studio Technical Operator or in a relevant and comparable position for at least five (5) years ;
(iii) Experience in operations of Radio/TV equipment/systems
(iv) Attended a broadcast management course;
(v) Shown merit and ability required for efficient organization and supervision of work including good knowledge of safety regulations;
(vi) Proficient in computer use and application;
(vii) Creativity and innovativeness;
(viii) Interpersonal skills; and
(ix) Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Studio Technical Operator II

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
1. Assisting in the operation of various broadcasting and information equipment in radio / television / film studios, computer laboratories, engineering laboratories and dark room;
2. Assist in the demonstration on the use of the equipment to the trainees; and
3. Work under the supervision and guidance of a senior trainer.

Studio Technical Operator III

Librarian I

·         Supervise selection, verification, classification, cataloguing of materials/documents;
·         Oversee books reservations and recalling overdue books
·         Conducting online information searches and serial controls
·         Ensuring maintenance of shelf arrangement;
·         Offering reference services and library user education

For appointment to this grade an applicant must have:
·         Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus)
·         Diploma in Library Studies/ Information Science from a recognized institution

Printing Assistant – Post Press

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Setting and operating small and medium folding and stitching machines
·         Undertaking simple bindings such as cut flush with cloth strip, quarter binding and setting and operating sewing machines
·         Gathering pre-numbered work and sections from a book and number covers for numbered books

(ii) In possession of Certificate in Printing, Introduction to Printing Technology (I.P.T) Certificate, Certificate in Proof-Reading and Copy Preparation, Estimating Certificate in Printing, City and Guilds Certificate in Printing or any other relevant qualification from a recognized Institution
OR
(iii) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus)
(iv) Passed Trade Test 1 in Printing from a recognized Institution

Senior Printer
KICD Scale 9

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Monitoring all jobs in the section
·         Preparing work schedules sheets, preparing machine, loading schedule for letterpress and litho
·         Reporting faulty machines
·         Handling or proof-reading classified jobs
·         Ensuring quality control and identifying staff for training
·         Preparation of work and Loading Schedules.
·         Allocation of work to staff in the printing unit
·         Ensure compliance with occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) safety requirements
Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an applicant must have:
(i) A bachelor’s degree in a printing related field from recognized institution
(ii) Served in the grade of Printer I or in a relevant and comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years
OR
(iii) A Diploma or Higher Diploma in Printing or its acceptable equivalent from a recognized institution;
(iv) Served in the grade of Printer I for a minimum period of five (5) years; and
(v) Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Senior Assistant Director Print and Publications
KICD Scale 13

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:
·         Coordination of functions pertaining to Book Production, Digital Printing Security Printing, Lithographic Printing and General Printing.
·         Advising the Institute on matters relating to policy formulation, implementation and review of printing policy.
·         Planning, budgeting, costing of printing services
·         Development and standard procedures on the provision of printing services
·         Managing & approving print production schedule, print specifications and budget.
·         Overseeing requests from bids, customer quotations and procure orders from vendors.
·         Controlling print flow, checking schedules for printing and ensuring that products are delivered at the required timelines and meet the standards for both the Institute and clients.
·         Responsible for day to day production within the print and publications section in the Institute.
·         Supervising, scheduling, strategizing, supporting and overseeing daily printing activities.
·         Ensuring overall customer satisfaction and quality service
·         Establishing and maintaining effective communication with employees and clients.
·         Ensuring compliance with occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) safety requirements
Requirement for Appointment
For Appointment to this Grade, an applicant must have:
(i) Served as an Assistant Director, Print KICD scale 12 or a relevant and comparable position for a period of three (3) years
(ii) A Master’s Degree in Print and Publication from a recognized Institution or a Bachelor’s Degree in Printing Technology or its acceptable equivalent from a recognized Institution plus 6 years’ experience.
(iii) A High degree of Competence and Administrative Skills required in Printing Services.
