Network Administrator Job in Kenya

The Company: Hass Petroleum is a regional oil marketing company with a significant presence in East Africa and the Great Lakes region. 

We have fully fledged operations in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Somalia and the DRC, dealing with saleS and distribution of white oils (Diesel, Petrol & Kerosene), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and our own brand of lubricants blended to world class standards.

The Job:
 We seek to recruit qualified and experienced Network Administrator

The position is responsible for the group Network planning, administration and operating activities. 

The holder performs a variety of complex technical duties related to the installation and maintenance of all HASS Petroleum affiliates’ systems including network and application servers, routers, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, MPLS and Phone Systems. Responsible for Network security as well as Backup and recovery systems. 

Supports Oracle EBS at the duty station as well as nearby affiliates. This role will be based in Hass Somalia Office.
 
Key responsibilities include;                                                                    
  • Ensure the group network is working at maximum efficiency with proper security.
  • Responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation of LAN/WAN layout and operational considerations.
  • Distributes, supervises server storage and space allotments across the group.
  • Serves as the security officer for the group networks.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance and control of the group VOIP (Avaya)
  • Understands the principles of data communication including MPLS and WAN technologies. Problem determination and resolution.
  • Responsible for all LAN and WAN hardware, software and data integrity, security, all backup and recovery for Linux and Windows servers for the group. 
  • Assist the ICT head in preparing ICT budgets by recommending purchases of hardware, software and system maintenance purchases needed to operate the network. 
  • Analyse systems and applications usage and plan for growth and systems capacity.
  • Actively manage incidents to ensure compliance against measurable SLA within documented tolerances and service levels.
  • Oracle EBS 12.1.3 exposure from both functional and technical point of view.
Required Technical Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux (Oracle Linux), SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Understands, installs and configures network equipment utilizing varied protocols such TCP/IP, Microsoft Protocols;
  • Strong experience with system management tools and client/server environments;
  • Experience with their database software/web applications, Apache and web services;
  • Familiarity with SAN Storage and Raid Technologies;
  • Strong Shell programming expertise for task automation;
  • Complete knowledge of network equipment such as switches, routers, hubs and firewalls (Cyberoam);
  • Solid knowledge of all aspects of Oracle/R12 ERP development, development tools, best practices and standards, including Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports;              
  • Should have strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC);
  • Experience using Network management tools, proactive monitoring and ITIL best practices. 
  • A working knowledge of structured test methods and processes is definite plus.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Business Information Technology or any other related field;
  • 5 years’ experience in Network administration along with a year’s Oracle EBS exposure.
  • Network administration certification, Linux administration Certified, CCNA, CCNP, Oracle Certified.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux (Oracle Linux), SQL and PL/SQL.
