Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Main Campus
The
University of Nairobi seeks to appoint a Deputy Principal, CHSS.
Applicants should be Professors or Associate Professors of the University serving on Permanent and Pensionable terms of employment.
The Deputy Principal shall assist the Principal, CHSS in carrying out Academic and Administrative functions and be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for maintaining and promoting efficient management of all the departments of CHSS located in Main Campus.
The Deputy Principal will also represent the Principal, CHSS within the University on all academic and administrative matters.
The specific function for the Deputy Principal will be to coordinate the teaching in CHSS Departments in Main Campus in addition to any other duties that may be allocated by the Principal or Vice-Chancellor.
He or
she will be a member of the Faculty / School Boards in CHSS, Main Campus.
The Deputy Principal shall be a member of the College Academic Board and College Management Board of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Deputy Principal shall play a leading role in the ongoing change and transformation process especially in respect of the management of human, physical and financial resources of the University.
They
should have at least three (3) years of experience at senior management level.
In addition, they should be persons of high integrity with proven management and leadership skills, be avid researchers and fundraisers.

ODeL Campus
The
University of Nairobi is seeking to appoint a Director for the Open, Distance
and Electronic Learning (ODeL) Campus who, under the direction of the
Vice-Chancellor, shall be the Head of the ODeL Campus of the University.
This
position is equivalent to that of a College Principal in the University.
Requirements:
For
appointment to the position of the Director, ODeL Campus a person shall:
1.
Be an Associate Professor or above of the University of Nairobi
serving on permanent and pensionable terms and a holder of an earned Doctorate
degree or equivalent qualification from a University recognized in Kenya;
2.
Have thorough knowledge in the structural, legislative and regulatory
framework for administering University Education in Kenya;
3.
Have at least five years hands-on experience at a senior level
in a University or equivalent institution with demonstrable leadership and
management capacity including knowledge of public financial management and
strategic people management;
4.
Be an accomplished scholar with proven track record in
formulating and managing academic programs and supervising and mentoring
Masters and PhD students;
5.
Have a proven track record of research and publications in peer
reviewed journals, monographs and books;
6.
Have demonstrable experience in networking, fundraising and
resource mobilization;
7.
Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on
Leadership and Integrity; and
8.
Have a demonstrable experience in transformative and strategic
leadership.

The
following core competencies and skills will be required for the position of the
Director, ODeL Campus:
1.
Ability to portray and uphold positive national image and work
in a multi-cultural and multiethnic environment with sensitivity to and respect

Duties
and Responsibilities:
The
Director, ODeL Campus shall be responsible for:
1.
the co-ordination of all ODeL programs and services in the
University;
2.
the admission of all ODeL students in the University;
3.
creating awareness in the University community on ODeL services;
4.
training of users in the general use of educational technologies
to facilitate integration and use of ICT educational programmes;
5.
Coordinate research, monitoring and evaluation on the utilization
of e-learning services;
6.
the proper conduct and supervision of the ODeL programmes; and
7.
the general welfare and discipline of ODeL students.
Appointment: As per the University
of Nairobi Statutes the Director, ODeL Campus shall hold office for a duration
of five (5) years with the possibility of a one time renewal for a further term
of five years subject to a positive appraisal by the Council.
