Similarly it is possible to wrongly
diagnose a faulty unit and replace unnecessary parts.
Both scenarios of doing it well and
doing it poorly can be called ‘servicing’ or ‘repair’ respectively but one of
them is correct and one of them is poor.
It is important that you know
service, repair and installation units to an excellent standard – absolute
perfection is required. Since you are not working alone, but in a team, the way
in which you behave in your team is also important.

- Install air conditioners to a professional
standard.
- Diagnosing faults and repairing them to a
professional standard.
- Service units to a high standard.
- Train your team members whom you feel need
improvement and learn from those whose skills in certain areas may exceed
yours.
- Technical ability is not everything. Your
attitude towards your team members, other employees in the organization
and the company’s customers is just as important. We have seen too many
highly capable technicians with a poor attitude. They have failed to reach
anywhere with this attitude.
- Don’t stop learning. You may thing you know a
lot, but in truth you have a long way to go. We know this. We have
travelled the world and seen many air conditioning technicians all around
the world. You have a lot to learn – be open to learning.
Qualification and Abilities
- A minimum experience of 2 years in working as
a senior technician.
- Experience in installing and repairing
centralized systems will be advantageous to your application.
- A diploma in Refrigeration / Air Conditioning
will help your application.
- A positive attitude.
Job Title: Air Conditioning Supervisors
Overview of Your Position: As
an Air Conditioning Supervisor, when the company gets an order or a project
award, the project is to be handed to you to handle from start to finish.
You will have to be on site daily to ensure that technicians are working at correct speed and with good quality.

You will be in charge of
requisitioning and purchasing the materials you need in time and you will be in
charge of the technicians.
You have to ensure that they go to
the site on time and work until they have to, to make sure there are no
delays.
At times technicians may at times not
always be fully cooperative, in the sense that they may leave site without
permission or turn up late.
You will need to be the type of
person who is a leader and can command authority, since you cannot delay the
project and report that your technicians were not cooperating.
You will be responsible for completing works on time and to excellent quality. You will also be in charge of commissioning the system.
You will be coordinating with the main contractors site foreman to ensure a smooth working relationship and you will be ensuring that the main contractor does his does not delay your work.
At the office, you will update your superior at regular intervals on how far you have reached and if you need any help for any problems.
You will be responsible for completing works on time and to excellent quality. You will also be in charge of commissioning the system.

- Managing all ‘ground level’ aspects of a
project from start to finish. This includes preparing a material
requisition list, ensuring materials are purchased on time, coordinating
with the department to ensure that you have enough technicians who are
competent to carry out the works, supervising the works on site to see
that they are done in accordance with the work program and ensuring that
the quality of works in maintained, ensuring health and safety on site.
- You will be required to diagnose and repair
faults on centralized and split air conditioning systems.
- You will be managing large projects and
leading a team. The ability to follow a work program and ensure that works
are completed on time and to an excellent standard.
- You will be working hand in hand with the main
contractor and the electrical subcontractor to see that works that you
depend on are communicated clearly and completed on time to allow you to
complete your work.
- Motivating technicians to work well and
properly, as well as being strict on those who are not performing is an
important part of the role.
- Managing all quality and troubleshooting
aspects of a project. This includes checking all aspects of the work and
ensuring that quality is excellent. During commissioning of a project, you
will be fully in charge of commissioning and troubleshooting.
