Accountant Job in Kenya

National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), an umbrella organisation for Protestant Churches and Christian Organisations registered in Kenya, invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position:

Accountant, Jumuia Conference and Beach Resort, Kanamai

Ref: A -JCBR

Reporting to the Resort Manager, this position will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with established internal controls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update books of accounts
  • Supervise the Cashier and other Accounts staff
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, management reports, and other financial statements
  • Prepare the Resort budget and budgetary control variance analysis reports
  • Follow up with creditors and debtors and update their accounts regularly and report to management
  • Maintain the fixed assets register
  • Do bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with external auditors, prepare audit schedules and financial statements for audit purposes
  • Advise management on cash management and short-term investments.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements
  • Coordinate periodic review of costing of services provided by the Resort
  • Ensure sound internal controls
  • Ensure effective stock management and stocks reconciliation
  • Control purchasing activities including purchasing requisition, quotations and originating the LPO, and produce a monthly purchasing report
  • Prepare monthly payroll input data and verify payroll transactions
  • Attend any social or promotional gathering the Manager may hold

Minimum Qualifications:
  • KCSE or equivalent
  • CPA (K)
  • Three years experience in a similar position

Other Competences:
  • Working knowledge of commonly used accounting packages
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills
  • High level skill in accounting and financial matters
