Context and Scope
Established
in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of
migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and
nongovernmental partners.
IOM
is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of
all.
It
does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Responsibilities
and Accountabilities
Under
the overall guidance of the Regional Director in the Regional Office for the
East and Horn of Africa and the direct supervision of the Public Information
Assistant I, the incumbent will assist in coordinating the activities of the
Public Information Unit including but not limited to:
- Updating the
Kenya website content in coordination with the various departments.
- Preparing information
sheets for the MRF and the departments.
- Draft Press
Briefing Notes.
- Provide coverage
to IOM events and documentation through photography.
- Assist in the
development of well-designed promotion materials such as banners, posters,
brochures.
- Provide assistance
in organizing for workshops and meetings.
- Tracks IOM
profile in public forums and in the media.
- Assist all
departments in MRF Nairobi with the Public Information duties when
requested by the Head of the unit.
- Review and
update donor relations, resource mobilization, and public information
tools currently in use in PSU.
- Maintain donor
distribution lists and coordinate distribution of resource mobilization
documents including but not limited to appear documents, project info
sheets, and humanitarian updates.
- Maintain
contacts database.
- Provide general
administrative and logistical support to the unit.
- Performs such
other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Education
and Experience
- High school
diploma or equivalent. Diploma in Journalism, Communications or
International Relations would be a distinct advantage.
- Four years
working experience in a similar capacity preferably with NGO, UN, or
International Organizations
- Working
knowledge in editing, catalogue and taking quality photographs;
- Basic knowledge
of image copyright agreements and ethics
- Experience in
updating content management systems (CMS) a distinct advantage.
Languages
Required
- Fluent English
is required
Advantageous
- Knowledge in
French will be an advantage.
