Intern - SomRep
Major
responsibilities
- Assisting the
GIS officer in development of databases and data collection tools for a
variety of purposes.
- Assist in
collection, evaluation and dissemination of programmatic information on a
regular basis for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Assist in
planning, organizing and servicing conferences, seminars and training
workshops- preparing presentations and facilitating ICT needs as required.
- Assist in the
planning, organizing and servicing conferences, seminars and training
workshops.
- Provide research
assistance in identifying suitable research institutions for SomReP to
partner with.
- Conduct donor
research via the Internet and other means to assist SomReP team in
identifying and targeting donors and funding opportunities.
- Update SomReP
donor map and fundraising strategy documents as key milestones are met.
- Create diagrams,
charts and simple visuals for donor presentations, proposals and other
communications.
- Help schedule
and organize quarterly SomReP donor coffees and other key presentations.
- Assist in
maintain register of equipment and other assets financed from each SomReP
donor.
- Assist the
administrative Assistant on office administrative issues, particularly
pertaining to records, payments and other key issues.
- Take notes at
SomReP technical and steering committee meetings.
- Help confirm and
arrange future meeting times.
- Assist
Consortium member agencies in retrieving and confirming key information
for the smooth running of SomReP programs.
- Assist M&E
team in ensuring partners submit timely internal monitoring reports
- Help maintain
reporting schedules for SomReP grants, staying in contact with SOs and
implementing partners to ensure deadlines are clear and met by all.
- Format and
proofread sub-recipient quarterly and bi-annual narrative reports and
consolidated SomReP reports to donors.
- Assisting in
preparing monthly and quarterly M&E reports in time for team
reflection meetings
Qualifications:
Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s
Degree with strong academic record. Academic focus is flexible, and could
cover Social Sciences/Communications/Accounting/ Commerce/Finance
/Economics/Statistics/Administration or other areas of study.
- Recent graduate
with at least one year of professional experience.
- Should be
Computer Literate, work well with MS Word and MS Excel and Internet
research methods
- Highly motivated
to learn and work in a high-performance environment.
- Willingness to
tackle challenges and seek creative solutions in everyday assignments.
- Demonstrates
well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both

Design Monitoring and Evaluation Officer - SomRep
World Vision International – Somalia Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and result oriented individual to fill the above mentioned position.
The DM&E Officer will support in setting up and monitoring a joint M&E framework for the WV Somalia-led Somalia Resilience Program (SomReP) consortium.
The
Officer will also help develop and implement an organization-wide strategy in
design, monitoring and evaluation, including quality program development and
reporting.
He/she
will also provide capacity building and coaching to program staff within the 7
consortium member NGOs to help them move through the donor program/project
cycle.
Major responsibilities
- Lead assessments
and baseline studies to prepare background information for the design of
programs and projects.
- Participate in
the preparation of program and project design documents, proposals and the
development of concept papers.
- Work with the
implementing partners to ensure quality programming and adherence to
minimum standards including International DM&E standards, values and
principles, HAP, SPHERE and other sector standards and protocols as well
as the mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues (Gender, Environment,
Protection, Peace Building, Disability)
- Support partners
to design effective Monitoring and Evaluation Plans and tools.
- Support
implementation of the DM&E systems through regular field monitoring
visits.
- Track and
maintain a record of SomRep projects Key Performance Indicators.
- Participate in
periodic review meetings to facilitate dialogue and learning on Program
and Project Implementation.
- Coordinate
reviews and evaluations and prepare reports in accordance with agreed upon
standards.
- Coordinate and provide
technical guidance for External Project Evaluation Consultancies.
- Understand
Management information needs and assist in (re)designing and review of
Project Management Information Systems.
- Collect and
prepare Consolidated Monthly Performance Reports based on partners’
submissions
- Contribute to
the writing of Semi-annual and Annual Management Reports as well as
periodic Donor reports to ensure compliance with recommended guidelines,
formats and standards
- Review other
agency, government and donor reports and interpret the information
summarized and useful manner to inform management decision making.
- Coordinate with
the GIS Officer to store data in relevant formats and disseminate
appropriate information among respective partners.
- Train and mentor
the partner agencies staff and interns on DME and other programming
approaches such as RBM
Qualifications:
Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor’s
Degree, preferably related to the science and practice of community
development, program design, statistics or evaluation.
- At least three
years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation of development and
humanitarian programs; experience working in Somalia or similar context
preferred.
- Experience
building capacity in DM&E using training methods, facilitation and
capacity building strategies.
- Sound
understanding of and ability to apply quantitative and qualitative data
collection methods, including comparative random sampling, questionnaire
and survey design, and data entry and analysis.
- Experience
working with a consortium programme, and/or complex programmes with
multiple stakeholders preferred
- Strong verbal
and written communication skills, including facilitation skills
- Ability to
communicate cross-culturally and be cross-culturally sensitive.
- Strong computer
and Internet skills including MS Office for word processing and graphic
presentation
Grant Finance Officer - SomRep
World Vision International – Somalia Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and result oriented individual to fill the above mentioned position.
The Grant Finance officer will be actively involved in tracking and coding SomRep spending, processing sub recipients quarterly funding requests, preparation and participating in annual audits, monitoring bank balances and tracking internal spending records.
Major responsibilities
- Data entry of
SomReP Technical Unit payments to the interface, to be incorporated in the
ledger after being reviewed by the Grant Analyst.
- Ensure all
transactions, both for Technical Unit and sub recipients, are correctly
coded to enable accurate reporting.
- Processing sub
recipients quarterly funding requests.
- Ensure all
documents, including financial document files, contract files and scanned
receipts and documentation from all sub-recipients are filed throughout
the year, and files are available for annual external audits.
- Assist auditors
to receive required information for SomRep program from other departments,
for example Supply Chain department, P&C and World Vision Somalia
Finance Office and also from World Vision Somalia SR Program Managers on
issues of implementation of SomRep activities on the ground.
- Ensure PBAS
numbers are set up in timely manner for new grants, track commitments on PBAS,
and ensure all SomReP funds are accounted for in the system.
- Work with World
Vision Somalia Finance and Grants team to ensure that SomReP Technical
Unit spending is charged to correct program and project numbers.
- Review SR
quarterly budget forecasts against their workplans to ensure likelihood of
timely grant spending.
- Maintain
consistency across various SomReP donor budgets and reports and the SomReP
master budget, including multiple currencies.
- Ensure all
copies of final signed Grant agreement documents with SomRep donors and
with sub- recipients are available on file and copies shared with
applicable World Vision Support Offices.
- Ensure good
storage of financial reports and records pertaining to the program in line
with SomRep program and donor requirements.
- Maintain
register of equipment and other assets financed from each SomReP donor.
- Work closely
with the SomRep Administrative Assistant on office administrative issues,
particularly pertaining to records, payments, spending, and other key
issues.
- Perform other
duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
- B.A Degree
Accounting/ Commerce/Finance Option and CPA or ACCA qualifications
- At least 5 years
of experience in Finance and Grants management.
- Excellent computer
skills in Excel & Sun-systems software.
- Ability to work
with different partners and INGOs, to develop and maintain positive
relationships.
- Demonstrated
ability in supervision.
- Experience in
managing donor funds.
- Good planning
and organizational skills.
- Ability to
maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and
public.
- Demonstrates
well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both
verbal and written.
- Ability to work
with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs,
to develop and maintain positive relationships.
- Computer
Literate in MS Office.
- Working
knowledge of grants operations, finance services and practices is an added
advantage.
- Must be a
professional able to stand above denominational diversities.
