The Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya
– Djibouti Program is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national for the following
position.
Sub-Program Manager - Dadaab
This is a management position, which requires effective
diplomacy and critical, analytical, facilitative and communication skills as
well as representational and management skills.
Guided by the LWF Program Strategy, the SPM’s functions and
responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible
for management of all issues relating to the project cycle in accordance
with the agreements with partners.
- Responsible
for the supervision and training of staff in the proper conduct of their
duties
- Maintain
close collaboration with partners, including UNHCR, Government of Kenya
line Ministries, other agencies, and host and refugee community leaders at
all times and phases of the project
- Ensure
adherence to existing policies, regulations and manuals
- Ensure
that project proposals, monitoring & evaluation activities, progress
reports and other documentation relating to ‘project cycle’ matters are
developed, finalized and submitted to the Program Coordinator within the
agreed time frame
- Conduct
regular field visits to ensure close supervision, monitoring and
coordination of activities and update the Program Coordinator.
- Ensuring
that activities are implemented with good quality and according to given
deadlines
- To
participate in meetings and other official missions as a representative of
the LWF Dadaab
- To
lead the Dadaab Project Management Team and participate in the Joint
Management Team
- Any
other duties as assigned by direct supervisors
Professional Qualifications
- Relevant
University degree
- Relevant
Experience and skills in managing highly competent staff,
- Several
years of experience at management level
- Experience
of Humanitarian Work
Personal attributes
- You
must be a people-oriented person,
- Able
to build and maintain good working relationships with refugees,
communities, partners, donors and other agencies is a key competence.
- Strong
manager who is also listening to and involving staff
- Able
to do many different things at the same time – able to prioritize
- Personal
integrity is very important
- Respect
and appreciate working with people from different cultures, ethnic
backgrounds, religions and nationalities
