Business Development and Marketing Managers Jobs in Kenya

Our client, an established and profitable FMCG sector company with well-known brand name and products, is seeking to strengthen its go-to-market strategies by attracting business professionals with firm ideas and proposals on how to deliver their unique value proposition to their target market.

In these 2 key positions, both reporting to the CEO, the Company seeks to identify talented and creative problem-solvers and business developers with proven track record of achievement in the FMCG business:

Marketing Manager

The purpose of this role is to develop, lead and spearhead implementation of the company's marketing strategy and programmes so as to achieve planned profitability, sustained growth, targeted market share and meet business objectives through innovation and brand building initiatives.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the following key accountabilities:
  • Lead product development and management efforts of the various brands and their introduction in the market
  • Build understanding of consumer and competitive market through cutting edge research
  • Build brand equity through effective communication in the market to enhance brand loyalty with target consumers
  • Effective management of pricing strategy to optimize brand margins and remain competitive and be able to defend and grow market share
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets to achieve set brand business objectives
  • Develop, train, motivate and evaluate team with a view of achieving high and sustained performance
  • Ensure effective and timely implementation of the agreed marketing and innovation programmes
  • Determine and coordinate departmental work plans, reporting and communication requirements
Person specifications and minimum requirements:
  • BCom/Marketing or business related degree
  • Post graduate qualifications in marketing is desirable
  • At least 5 years experience in leadership role in marketing
  • Demonstrable evidence of marketing strategy formulation, leadership in brand innovation, communication and media management
  • Experience in market research and intelligence gathering in an FMCG setting
  • Consumer behavior understanding and innovative thinking
  • Team player, motivator and uncompromising on delivery of superior results
Business Development Manager

The purpose of the role is to analyze, prioritize and deliver against set business growth opportunities within a strategic framework. 

One will be expected to effectively build market position by strategically locating, defining, developing, negotiating and closing business relationships.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the following key accountabilities:
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements
  • Identifies or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners and exploring opportunities
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential and financials while evaluating options, resolving internal priorities and recommending investment actions
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts, integrating contract requirements with business options
  • Update job knowledge on continuous basis by participating in educational events, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and remaining active in professional bodies
  • Enhance company's reputation by taking ownership for accomplishing new and diverse requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Person specifications and minimum requirements:
  • BCom/Marketing or business related degree
  • At least 5 years experience in business development in a highly competitive commercial environment
  • Proven sales experience of about 2-3 years in a competitive setting preferably in FMCG industry
  • Strong analytical skills with well-developed commercial flair (understanding financials) and experience in developing metrics and coming up with pricing compensation programmes
  • Closing skills in business deals with ability to effectively prospect, plan for sales activities and understanding customer and broad market requirements
  • Project management and experience in delivering corporate sales would be a definite plus
  • Contract negotiation abilities would be key as would be good interpersonal and presentation skills
