Clerk of Works Job in Kenya


Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya Program is seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals for the following positions to be based in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

Clerk Of Works: 

(Six Months Contract)

The Clerk of Works is responsible for ensuring high standards of quality control are maintained through monitoring of construction, contract progress, procedures, workmanship, schedules and the overall job safety and also effective coordination between the contractor, the consultants and the management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare drawings, bill of quantities and tender documents for new constructions works and contractual documents.
  • Interpret Architectural, structural, mechanical drawings etc
  • Developing design, and work programs for all construction under LWF in Kakuma Refugee Assistance Project (KRAP).
  • Interpret, implement and reinforce regulatory requirements related to safety and environmental standards in all construction sites.
  • Coordinate and supervise LWF’s construction in Kakuma Refugee Camp.
  • Make detailed periodical (weekly, monthly and quarterly) reports on all construction work.
  • In collaboration with LWF stores supervisor, manage the storage of construction materials from compound/store and those in use at the sites after release from stores
  • Recommend repairs, supervise maintenance of tools and equipment and determine works procedures at construction sites.
Desired Education Skills and Experience
  • The candidate should be: -
  • A Higher Diploma holder in Building and Construction or Civil Engineering from a recognized training institute (e.g. Kenya Polytechnic or equivalent)
  • Must possess knowledge of auto CAD
  • Computer Literate: word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and e-mail
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years with a broad based background in construction industry, at least 1 year of which was mandatory site work.
