Radio Operator / Translator Job in Nairobi Kenya

ACF International is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization.

With 30 years of expertise in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster, and chronic food insecurity, ACF runs life-saving programs in some 40 countries benefiting five million people each year.

ACF International has been conducting humanitarian programs in Somalia since May 1992.

At present, ACF is conducting its humanitarian activities focused on Severe and moderate malnutrition, Medical, Food Security and Water & Sanitation programs via program bases in Mogadishu (since 1995) and Wajid (since 2003) and the Coordination office in Nairobi.

We are currently looking for a Radio Operator / Translator(Based in Nairobi)

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide services of translating official documents and remote control policies from Somali to English accurately and vice versa.
  • Provide radio or telephone communication to the bases and respect the defined codes.
  • Ensure radio contacts in the evening in the absence of the Logistics coordinator, serve as the intermediary between the bases or vehicles when communication is weak ensure the official language in radio communication and protocols are respected.
  • Ensure the equipment is well maintained and that frequencies are not used by unauthorised personnel. Radios should always be ready for use and the books should be updated accordingly.
  • Answer the office phone lines in the absence of the Secretary and assist the logistics department in other logistical work in case of need.
Who we are looking for:
  • Qualified Translator with at least 1 year experience in translation of documents from Somali to English and vice versa.
  • Experience in the humanitarian field will be an added advantage,
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, internet;
  • Fluency in English & Somali language is a must.
