WWF - The Global Conservation Organization,
Kenya Country Office (WWF - KCO), is seeking to recruit a
Technical Officer – Lake Naivasha Water Resource Users Association (LANAWRUA)
to be based in Naivasha.
The Technical Officer will work on full time basis to promote water stewardship amongst water users in Naivasha basin. The incumbent will take lead in WWF-M&S project implementation, strengthening work done by Alliance for Water Stewardship in Naivasha basin.
Major duties include:
Technical Officer – Lake Naivasha Water Resource Users Association (LANAWRUA)

The Technical Officer will work on full time basis to promote water stewardship amongst water users in Naivasha basin. The incumbent will take lead in WWF-M&S project implementation, strengthening work done by Alliance for Water Stewardship in Naivasha basin.
Major duties include:
- technical
support to LANAWRUA delivering the WRUA responsibilities as mandated by
Water Act 2002;
- Support
Lake Naivasha umbrella WRUA and other WRUAs in the basin when requested
- Responsible
for the timely delivery of the activities described in the project
- Mobilise
private sector and other beneficiaries benefiting from upstream land
management initiatives to establish upstream small scale farmers out
growers scheme
- Support
WRUAs to develop awareness and communication materials on WAP, PES and
sustainable land use
- Prepare
LANAWRUA financial and technical reports.
Required Qualifications and Experience;
- Possession
of a first degree Hydrology/Hydrogeology/water engineering from a recognized
university
- 3
years experience on integrated water resource management including ground
water hydrology and Watershed management in Kenya
- Good
knowledge of Water Act 2002 and Kenya Constitution in regard to Natural
resource management
- ability
to work with private sector and water users
- good
skills in proposal and report writing as well as budget preparation
- proficiency
on WRUA Development Cycle especially in regard to WRUAs applications cycle
to the Water Service Trust Fund
- knowledge
of political economy and shared water risks in Naivasha sub-basin.
