Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Programme Support Officer Job Vacancy

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is an international federation of a member organizations working in development through volunteers to fight poverty and disadvantage.

VSO Jitolee is a member of the VSO federation based in Nairobi with an East African regional mandate to promote volunteerism and recruit skilled professionals from Kenya and Uganda to serve as volunteers in VSO programmes in 44 countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition, VSO Jitolee contributes to Kenya’s national development through international volunteers who work with local partners across the country in the areas of disability, secure livelihoods and health.

VSO Jitolee is an independent INGO registered in Kenya and governed by a local board.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to coordinate administrative and programme implementation activities for VSO J country programmes.

As a Programme Support Officer, your key performance indicators will include:
  • Demonstrable high standard of organized and resourced workshops, events, meetings and forums
  • Accessible, up to date documentations on Programme Area reviews and workshop reports which are relevantly disseminated and shared
  • Well maintained updated cycle list and demonstrable evidence that all relevant documentation are up to date and obtained by required deadlines
  • Increased level of satisfaction of volunteers and partners resulting from provision of information, guidance to access of updated information
  • Support to partnership development processes including pre-selection of partners, rapporteuring during programme meetings
  • Provision of effective follow up to volunteer settlement
  • Synchronized programmes calendar with the organizational one.
The successful applicant will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree preferably in the social sciences and at least 1 year relevant experience programme/project administration
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Evidence of effective problem solving and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Evidence of unquestionable integrity and openness to learning
  • A good team player with a high degree of personal commitment, a capacity to influence volunteers, managers and stakeholders and the ability to give and receive feedback
  • A capacity to manage people and performance effectively
