Action Against Hunger (ACF) - USA is part of the ACF - International Network which works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.

ACF-USA is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following positions;

Country Program Coordinator

Reporting to the Country Director, the Country Program Coordinator will be responsible for project coordination and operational management; be the focal point for proposal context analysis and coordinate with the technical and support departments to ensure overall planning, follow-up and reporting.

Providing up to date knowledge of donor strategies and frameworks, funding mechanisms and regional strategy which are fed into the coordination and country strategy planning process; ensuring program objectives are met and timelines, budgets, donor guidelines are respected by PMs and Coordinators; ensuring programs are coherent with the operational strategy and with ACF mandate.

S/he will be responsible for
  • liaising and coordinating with stake holders and donors on ACF activities and ensure required program documentation is provided, advance and disseminate ACFs strategic positioning to donors and other stakeholders as it relates to humanitarian analysis and future financial planning;
  • strengthening field and capital level information sharing with INGOs, IOs and government;
  • providing coordination team with information relating to humanitarian and developmental events in the country;
  • ensuring information is analyzed and provided to relevant future propositions for geographic and sectoral interventions throughout the country to Country Director in a timely manner;
  • Identifying humanitarian needs and designing potential responses within the operational country strategy;
  • human resources management from a programming perspective and overall management of program budgets.
Qualifications and Skills required
  • Significant experience in humanitarian and emergency/early recovery programme management.
  • Masters degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years humanitarian work in developing or emergency context.
  • Minimum 3 years humanitarian experience in a senior management / coordination role.
  • Excellent human resource management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of donors’ guidelines/procedures.
  • Experienced in working with private funding and foundations.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and motivation/training skills.
  • Must be disciplined and able to work autonomously and arrive at decisions and conclusions with minimal guidance.
  • The person must be able to set own deadlines and meet them consistently.
  • Proven experience in proposal writing and budget development.
  • Fluent in oral and written English (professional English required).
  • Excellent communication, writing and analytical skills
  • Jedi-like management and representation competencies.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
Nutrition Coordinator - CMN

Reporting to the Country Program Coordinator, the Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the nutrition department of ACF Kenya in overseeing, coordinating and ensuring integration between ACF-USA nutrition programs; providing technical support and working on analysis with nutrition program managers and surveillance PM.

The incumbent will be coordinating with nutrition cluster partners and donors for nutrition activities as well as represent the organisation and its interests to donors, partners and counterparts.

S/he will ensure compliance of programmes in terms of achieving objectives in current grants and ensure information sharing and collaboration with the food security & livelihoods, water and sanitation programs to ensure an integrated approach.

The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for proposing technical strategies that are coherent with the context and the humanitarian situations and also propose revisions of current strategies as per arising needs and changes in the humanitarian context.

The incumbent will be based in Nairobi with frequent field visits.

Qualifications and Skills required
  • Masters degree in Nutrition/medical field.
  • Minimum 5 years humanitarian work in developing or emergency context
  • Minimum one year experience in a coordination role
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent written and public communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to adjust to a lifestyle of frequent travel on the field
Assistant Finance Coordinator

Reporting to the Admin Coordinator, the Assistant Finance Coordinator will be responsible for implementing ACF’s administrative and financial policies and procedures in the bases by training staff on accounting procedures, making sure that the monthly accounting for the entire mission is in line with ACF-USA requirements, developing budgets and other relevant documentation and producing financial viability and risk analysis of the organization with recommendations to senior management.

S/he will be responsible for general administration to include proper filing of administrative documents, provide financial analysis and recommendations e.g. salary adjustments, grades, annual review of the long term financial strategy, supervise payroll processing and payment of salaries.

The Assistant FinCo will be responsible for maintaining and developing an esprit de corps with the finance team and between other department as well as training the finance team, new staff, and travel periodically to bases to give in-field training: Supporting coordinators and PMs by providing financial analysis and guidance for making decisions

Qualifications and Skills required
  • Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Minimum two years of professional finance or accounting experience, preferably in an NGO
  • Knowledge of finance/accounting procedures.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills as well as verbal and written communication
  • Strong administrative, organizational, finance and management experience required
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computer skills to include spread sheets, internet/e-mail, accounting package
These positions are contractual on a one-year renewable basis.
