Wrigley Company East Africa ESH Specialist Job in Kenya

The Wrigley Company East Africa, a local subsidiary of Wm Wrigley Company and a leader in the global confectionery industry and the world’s largest manufacturer of chewing and bubble gum seeks to recruit a Environmental Safety and Health Specialist.

Reporting to:
 Factory Manager

Position Purpose:

Provide ESH support to all Wrigley activities in line with the Corporate Mission and Values statements, ESH standards and regional business activities to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as minimizing the Company’s general liability and exposure to environment, safety and health risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence: To implement statutory and Corporate ESH standards necessary in order to minimize Company and employee exposure to ESH risks. Works with other functions to implement behavior based safety culture.
  • Strategy: Be responsible for developing annual ESH plans that include program development to meet the requirements of local regulatory agencies and Corporate ESH standards. Coordinate activities to accomplish the goals and objectives set for the Factory ESH Program
  • Governance: To develop, implement and maintain all Factory Environmental, Safety and Health systems and procedures designed to minimize or eliminate environmental and occupational hazards.
  • Technical Consulting: To serve as the Company’s in house consultant with regard to: local health & safety laws and regulations, Corporate ESH Standards and appropriate related directives; evaluating the potential environmental and health risks, performing effective ESH safety engineering evaluations, development of appropriate ESH procedures and process manuals
  • Implementation: Lead and direct local personnel with ESH responsibilities to ensure a standard approach to the implementation of ESH programs and procedures. Manage related budget. Play a key role in identifying, communicating and working closely with local Factory Management and the Regional ESH Manager.
The Person:

Education:
  • Undergraduate in Engineering / Technology field with emphasis in Safety, or Sciences with a bias in environmental safety
  • Preference - Graduate in business/ management or further education in Engineering/ Technology
Experience: min. 5 years of proven experience in energy efficiency programs and sustainable ESH programs

Specialised Knowledge:
 Strong ESH Technical knowledge; appropriate qualifications in ESH Skills: ESH management, training and presentation skills, ability to develop and implement procedures and programs

Other:
 IT based skills including word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management and electronic communication methods.
